About Me

I’m currently traveling through Europe. In the past year I moved from China to Thailand to China to California. I’m biking around Europe on a 150€ bike I bought my first day in Amsterdam!

I am always trying to find balance in extremes. The F. Scott Fitzgerald quote comes to mind:
The test of a first-rate intelligence is the ability to hold two opposing ideas in mind at the same time and still retain the ability to function.

I wouldn’t say I have first-rate Intelligence but I am far from dysfunctional. I also enjoy Spending time thinking about thought and communicating about communication. Making myself laugh and hoping someone else gets the joke too.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Because life is finite and so are our experiences.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: new wave, pop, electronic, indie, alternative. Lately it's been the Hamilton Soundtrack and Khruangbin

Movies: 10 Things I hate about you, Princess Bride, Scott Pilgrim vs. the World, Fight Club.

Books: Still Life with Woodpecker, Mistborn, Name of the Wind, The Little Prince

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I went backpacking for the first time ever. So decided to go solo. And decided I didn't need food or a tent. I hiked all day in flip flops because I walked into a river (oops. Who put that there?) melted my shoe trying to dry it, pulled 20 ticks off me and my dog and ran into a camp to ask a stranger to um... Check me for ticks I couldn't see/reach. Great trip.

Teach, Learn, Share

I believe the role of education is to teach how to think and not what to think.

I enjoy baking but would love to learn to cook or make better cocktails. Or even that leverage thing to pop off beer bottles with anything. Message me if you’re into bikepacking/touring!

I know a lot about living/visiting Beijing and a decent amount about scuba diving and video games.
