About Me

Hello!
My name is Vanessa, I am currently a resident of Vancouver BC and a graduate student student of University of British Columbia . I study Computer Science, and more specifically the intersection of AI and HCI. I also have a sincere case of wanderlust and enjoy traveling to see the world. I love anything outdoors including running, hiking, swimming, etc. I also LOVE good food and cooking (Chocolate being a personal favorite). Ask me anything, I'd love to chat!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I couch surf because I love visiting new places and meeting new people. I not only love experiencing new locations, but I love sharing my own location with others. I think its beautiful to see the world through someone else's eyes and I love sharing this experience with others.

Basically, I love to travel and I love to host. I believe these experiences are even better when sharing with like minded people.

Interests

NERD ALLERT: I am huge techie and love anything related to computers or mathematics (ask me about coding). However, I also have a deep interest in reading, writing, and historical contexts. In my spare time I enjoy running new trails and cooking new recipes.

Teach, Learn, Share

Being a graduate student, I believe education is one of the most valuable things one can acquire. However, this doesn't only include scholastic subjects, but can be extended to any learning opportunity (culture, personalities, language, etc.). Moreover, I believe educational generosity is the most valuable gift anyone can give.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I am avidly studying to become a computer programmer. Although I have a lot to learn myself, I am more than willing to teach others what I already understand. With technology advancing as frequently as it does today, I believe more people should have the opportunity to learn this useful skill.

Also, I am a very quite and considerate guest. I do not expect to be entertained, or accommodated unless the offer is there. I strongly believe in treating others as, I would want to be treated myself.
