About Me

ABOUT ME

Hi, my name is Vanessa, I am 33 years old and I have been living in Vienna since 2019 with a break travelling in Patagonia, Mexico and Guatemala.

My friends would describe me as open-minded, very talkative, positive and lively. I love to get to know new people and hear about their experiences and different life concepts.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is an amazing platform to connect people from all over the world! I really love the whole concept and have met some great people so far :-) Some of them became close friends of mine.

There are so many interesting places in the world that I would still love to explore and learn more about the history, manners, differences, food...

Interests

I LOVE Denmark! I always went there on vacation with my parents as a kid and started to love it even more when I had lived in Flensburg for my studies . The "hygge" feeling just got me and I am happy that I learned the language as well :-)

THINGS I ALSO LOVE: scandinavia, learning something about other cultures and countries (history, manners, food, you name it), dancing in the rain, optimists, festivals, bonfires, camping, people who appreciate the beauty in nature, penguins, animation movies, adrenaline kicks, Modern Art Galleries, homemade pickles from my grandma

Music, Movies, and Books

MUSIC: Interested in all sorts of genres. One day you find me in a glitter jacket at a Harry Styles concert and the next day I will listen to a metal band on stage. I would say the genres vary from alternative, indie, rock, metal and electronic music. I especially enjoy music in different languages :-)

BOOKS: I love "Chess Story" by Stefan Zweig, Sally Rooney books, the book Utopia by realists, everything from Benedict Wells and books about art

FILMS: I have a movie theatre subscription in Vienna and can go as often as I want and I have been using it quite often. Here is a list of movies that I really liked recently or are my alltime favourites: Inception, Interstellar, Perks oof being a wallflower, School of Rock, All of us strangers, We live in time, One Battle after another, Coco,

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I worked on a farm in Oaxacan state and was able to work with some of the best mexcaleros and mexcaleras in Mexico. They teached me everything about producing Mezcal and I learned first hand what hard work it is to produce an artisanal product like this. If you are interested I can of course tell you more about it.

I worked in the middle of nowhere in Chilenean Patagonia and never felt that much in balance and peace with nature. I learned practices of the mapuches and got to see places far from any tourist attractions. I have a very fond memory of hiking up to Cerro Castillo as we were the only people up there with the perfect evening of no wind (literally never happens in Patagonia) and sunshine
