About Me

I'm a postgrad translation student (German & Japanese) and freelance translator. I love books, music, traveling, making unique experiences and meeting all sorts of people. I'm fascinated with foreign cultures. If I could, I'd learn all the languages in the world. If you tell me your life story, there's a good chance I'll write a book about it.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Education, books and experience have taught me that you have to keep moving, keep exploring and broadening your horizons in order to lead a healthy and happy life. I'm striving to do that by meeting people from all around the world, spreading intercultural understanding and simply having a good time together. I believe that stories and music unite us beyond geographic and cultural borders.

In short, I like to get to know people and places beyond the usual sightseeing attractions and tourist haunts and I'm prepared to introduce my city and country to visitors through my own favorite places and activities. I'd love to meet up with visitors in Vienna and explore foreign places together with residents in turn.

Interests

Books and stories are my elixir of life. I mostly read contemporary fiction, romance, fantasy, paranormal romance and classics. I write stories too. If you have stories to tell, I will love you forever and probably write my next book about you.

I couldn't survive without music and will listen to anything at least once, although I tend to gravitate towards pop, rock, alternative, house, dubstep, folk, instrumental and even classical music. I'm not too shy to sing in public, I play violin and am learning to play ukulele, guitar and piano on and off.

Like many others on CS, I enjoy hiking and backpacking. Although I haven't tried routes over 4-5 hrs, I hope to try long distance hiking, camping and climbing mountains in the future. If you're into any of those things, I'd appreciate your company or any advice you can give!

Teach, Learn, Share

As I've lived in Austria all my life, I can teach you about my country and language, differences between Germany and Austria, life in Upper Austria and Vienna.

Since I'm a translation student, I love learning about foreign places, cultures and languages. Japan and Japanese are my favorite subject, but I'm curious about many other places too.

I also like learning new instruments, especially strings and piano. Basically I enjoy discussing any topic that you're interested in or passionate about, although favorites do include literature, music, trading stories about things you or friends have experienced, philosophy and even religious discussion (from the viewpoint of a lazy Buddhist / curious atheist).
