About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet people, help travelers, have fun, have guests

ABOUT ME

I'm very tall, prefer to laugh and joke, although it's easy to get me involved in a serious conversation as well - I, kind of, have an opinion on everything.
I do hitch-hiking for fun and love to drink with people I meet, because great friendships start with a drink.

PHILOSOPHY

one who drinks beer,
will live forever.

The easy way is not fun

Search for adventure, try things, look for things, learn things

Great friendships start with a drink

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I mostly host travelers in my home in Sofia, surfed somewhat as well.

We can't promise to take you out and show you the city, but we will try to incorporate you in our daily lives. Which means lots of beers at home in the evenings, sometimes going out and meeting friends, drinking in the parks, concerts and festivals every now and then, etc.
During the weekdays we'll be able to spend time together mostly in the evening. During weekend we're often not home, doing something outside of Sofia, but most times you'll be welcome to join us.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I despise profiles that have too many rules and conditions, secret phrases, "Couchsurfing is not free accomodation" and such. Those people got it wrong somewhere and I don't think that's the spirit or Couchsurfing. It's about sharing, not about obeying.
Guys hosting only girls and those that are here only to get some clubbing company are another story and they should just switch to some dating website.

If you're one of the described above, have in mind that I will probably never send you a request, however if you really wish to surf my couch, you're welcome.

On the other hand, I think a good host:
- may not necessarily treat you like a VIP, but will try to incorporate you in their daily lives.
- will give you the spare keys and will let you go in and out whenever you want and wake up as late as you like.
- will not require anything in return for his/her hospitality.
- does not have foolish thoughts that you're visiting only because of his/her incredible personality.
- is informed about local history, culture, sites, transport, food etc.
- is interested in you and your story

Well, I'm trying to be a good host. If you're totally broke I will give you food and beer, if you're not then buy me a drink if you wish.

Interests

- Beers, drinks and smokes.
- Music, really alot of genres. I go to concerts and parties whenever an interesting band or DJ is in town. I'm not the kind of clubbing person though.
- I like nature and some phycadelic stuff, history, geography (I adore Google Earth)
- I like sailing and paragliding - generally every sport that has to do something with the wind. Also snowboarding, snowfighting :), bikes, montaineering.

I like adventures, and the most easy way to get one is by travelling without money or by going to the Rhodopes mountains in Bulgaria.

I like travelling quite a bit

Music, Movies, and Books

It seems that I enjoy independent cinema mostly, the kind of movies that you unfortunately see only on festivals. There are also some really good old Russian movies. Cinema from the far east is always weird and I like it because of this.
I don't like Hollywood cinema much, it's too much cops, guns, cars, wars, etc. It's too predictable, always somebody has to die and it does not enrich you in any way.

I was very impressed by "Taxidermia", after seeng this movie everything else just seemed to me boring. But it's not for everyone, it's challenging.
Try also "Kin Dza Dza", "6 string samuray", "Fear and loathing in Las Vegas", "A space odysey" and much more

Some favourite books and authors: "Catch-22", Stanislav Lem, Strugatski, Steinbeck, Erich Maria Remarque. I probably have more, but don't remember now.

I love lots of different music genres, so we'll probably find something in common.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-International hitch-hiking
-My small homemade sailboat
-A trip from Sofia to Hong Kong overland ~14000km
-Seeing India
-Trek to Mt. Everest Base camp
-10 months of traveling in Caribbean and South America with wife and baby
-I sailed across the Atlantic ocean under the command of the worst asshole captain ever

Teach, Learn, Share

Well, I can show some software and webdesign for beginners.
We can do some sailing, I have a small sail boat and there are several lakes near Sofia. But you have to be really lucky because I don't sail it much recently.
Can show some snowboarding in winter.
Can teach a little about FOREX (foreign exchange) market, I don't recommend this to anyone though :). I tried it and it didn't work for me.
Some guitar for beginners.

We can cook some interesting Bulgarian dish if you like :)

What I'm interested in? Anything. I would love to learn something from everybody.
