ABOUT ME

Born and raised in Munich, Germany. My father is English and I was brought up bilingually. I very much like Munich and don't belong to those Germans who feel they must get away, although I can understand what they're on to.
Just having finished school and military service, I could have gone on to study, but as I can not make up my mind about what to do I chose to come to Australia for a year instead of dossing about at home. Now I'm back home and about to begin to study in October.

Military service is still compulsory in Germany, but there is the possibility of doing alternative civilian service. So I ended up working in a class of 3rd graders at a primary school...

PHILOSOPHY

Live is a bitch! And she has a veeery twisted sense of humor. Thats the funny answer. The serious one is as follows.

Life is full of suffering. Life is utmost incredible. Beauty is all around. It all depends on your point of view, on the goal as to which you wish to observe the universe around you.

Every person lives in their very own universe. No one has even the slightest hint of a chance at true empathy without communication inbetween these worlds.

"We are all alone, together"

There is no reason to be afraid of missing anything in life, once considering the infinite vastness of could have beens.
You are the smith of your own luck. Nothing comes to you out of its own accord. All is the result of your own actions. You have no idea of what awaits you in the future, distant or near. As long as you do what you at that very moment know to be right, for yourself and everyone and everything else, there is no way you can regret the outcome of your actions.

You are because you are. There is no reason. The mere, existence of existence is in its absolute incredulous nature alone worth being grateful for.
There is no God. There is no need for such. Just be grateful. Be good to your fellow beings. Think! Make the best of your brief stint of consciousness inbetween eternities.
After death you will return to what you were before birth. Not. Eternity is meant for the nothingness outside of time itself, not for you. Deal with it.

Your mere being is reason enough for great joy.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I am afraid I can't offer a couch, but will be eager to enrich whichever CS community I encounter with my presence :D

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Back home a friend of mine puts up couchsurfers. I therefor got to meet quite a few of them as well.
I also got to meet a few couchsurfers in Sydney at the Christmas gathering.
Hosted a bunch of surfers at two of the sharehouses I lived at in Fremantle and West Leederville (Perth, Western Australia). Got to know a good few of the good people of the Perth and Fremantle communities. "Surfed" at some friends places whilst in transition between accomodation.

Interests

Generally interested...I like to talk to people about all sorts of things and stuff, as long as their not the shallow minded, ready made opinion type. But not just that and possibly even more importantly: I also like to listen to people.
I've been avoiding making a decision as to what I will study for a few years now. Just recently I decided to put it off a nother year. However I yearn to learn again. Not that I ever cease to do so, but I am actually looking forward to studying. The Problem: The vastness of our universes' wonders, and discoveries to be made. Too many possibilities, too many interests.
I will most likely resolve to physics, an all time favourite of mine. However, you can probably get me interested in pretty much everything.

Music, Movies, and Books

Some people take drugs to do it, but if I really want to escape this mean and harsh reality, then I take a book and disappear. Mind you, I won't just read anything. Although I hardly ever manage to put a book aside if I start to read it.
Apart from that I read to think and to learn, to make ideas grow and to form my opinion...and whenever I feel like reading.

Music needs to feel right. Very little actually feels bad, as does very little actually feel really good. Electronic music is extremely diverse. Rock. Folk. In the end all music is made up of the same components. Complex rhythms, simple rhythms. Melody. Intention. Music has to be thought through. Unfortunately a lot, I feel, is just thrown together to be tossed in to the hungry, open mouths' of the figurative musical pleb.
Also: Please let the vocals be part of the music. It is not that difficult. If your really after some intricate lyrics, read/write a poem.
There are a few musicians I have been loyal to over the years. Trentemøller, Tool, Jack Johnson, José González, Disturbed, UB40, The Kings of Convenience...to name a few.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Flying a gliding plane...definitely awesome.

Teach, Learn, Share

If you read this far, then you should have quite a good idea of what it is that I have to share. Nothing sorta...
