About Me
Hey Folks!
I am a Native New Yorker, born 'n raised in the big NYC. I'm a musician who spent the last four years managing and conducting a contemporary youth orchestra here. I'm now ready to explore new places and experience new things. I'm a pianist, conductor and composer and I'm a fixed gear cyclist, a coffee brewer, language enthusiast and a cook.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
My first big solo backpacking trip is coming up - July 8 through August 12 - through Germany and I want to meet people to connect and hang out with, and to stay with.
I've been living in Brooklyn for the past few years in a large 3 floor house with many other people and I've become accustomed to meeting friends of friends staying on one of our many couches. I've hosted a bunch and I think it's a great way to connect and make new friends.
I'm going around the entire country of Deutschland, flying into Frankfurt, going south and around to the north and flying back out of Frankfurt, while also touching into Zürich, Vienna and Prague. I'm checking out Masters and other educational programs. And I want to better my German.
My itinerary is
Frankfurt
Freiburg
Zürich
Munich
Vienna
Prague
Dresden
Leipzig
Berlin
Hamburg
Köln
Frankfurt
I hope I'm not forgetting anything else!
Interests
Music (duh) - piano performance, classical, contemporary, jazz, lots of metal, world music, dance music, etc. I play piano, compose music and conduct too.
I LOVE COFFEE CULTURE - brewing. One of my favorite things to do in a new city is to check out the coffee scene and report back to New York City.
I'm into Tech wear (google it), design and language. I'm also a fixed gear bicyclist.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music - too much to list but I'm currently listening to Hiatus Koyote, Taylor McFerrin, The Bad Plus, Stravinsky and John Adams. And of course Die Fantastischen Vier :)
Books - I'm right now slowly working my way through Die Verwandlung (The Metamorphosis) and other Kafka works in German.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Recently, I won a way cool scholarship to study in Germany, because I made a short video about something I love doing - MAKING COFFEE :)

Teach, Learn, Share
I'm currently learning German (B1 level) and starting Spanish (A1). I have worked for the past four years managing and conducting a youth orchestra in New York City, so I have much experience being a teacher.
I dig sharing the hacks I've learned to be a better language learner, and to understand music more.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I am a good cook, I love to share food with people. I bring home the beer and conversation and I am very tidy. I can also make good coffee (given the right equipment). If you're a musician we can jam.
