About Me

ABOUT ME

I once wrote '100 facts about myself' for a blog entry, it was more than 6 years ago but most of them are still true. As soon as I find the time to translate all of it into English, you'll be able to know me for what I really am. Meanwhile, http://www.personalitypage.com/ENFJ.html is totally about me.

I should probably mention that I'm actually quite shy. I like meeting new people but it's always a challenge. That's one of the reasons I love Couch Surfing, it brings out the best (or at least, the friendliest) side of me.

I like long walks and sci-fi movies, and I quote others only to better express myself. My dreamjob is designing costumes for Manneken Pis, I'm terrible at Pacman and even worse at chess, and of course I only drink coffee in Amsterdam coffeeshops.

PHILOSOPHY

> The aim of life is to live, and to live means to be aware. Joyously, drunkenly, serenely, divinely aware.

> Knowledge is not wisdom. Wisdom is not truth. Truth is not beauty. Beauty is not love. Love is not music. Music is the best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm not exactly what you'd call a good tourguide but I sometimes like showing people around. Surfed a few times and really enjoyed it. I go to local CS meetings as well when I have time (or want to play the piano haha).

Interests

music and gigs, travelling, learning languages, jigsaw puzzles and nedroid comics (my other hobby is dinosaur rodeos).

Music, Movies, and Books

you can check out some of the music I listen to here:
http://www.last.fm/user/vathorniel. there are a few 'basic' artists that form my musical taste, and I've loved them for years, but every now and then different songs suddenly appear that I grow addicted to. Current obsession - Candy by Paolo Nutini.

I don't really watch films, usually just can't be bothered. I wouldn't mind a good film in a good company though, so if you have any suggestions, let's see what we can do! I like musical films, nice comedies, phantasmagories, and first parts of trilogies, something like that. Oh and British TV series are always favoured.

Books - pretty much anything, really. I've underestimated American 20th century literature for most of my life, so trying to catch up now. I grew up reading loads of science fiction and still enjoy it a lot. Buying a Kindle was definitely the right thing to do as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I came close as anyone's come to live underwater for more than a month :-)

well, I've seen so many awesome things on other people's profiles that it left me totally amused and made me feel like I've never done anything amazing.

Thinking of it, doing the 800+ km of Camino de Santiago on bicycle was a life-changing experience, and possibly the toughest thing I've ever done. Boat riding on an underground lake on Kefalonia was pretty cool, too.
