About Me

CURRENT MISSION

to learn how to tie a necktie

ABOUT ME

I need a haircut.
I am also really interested in learning aerial silks and would almost be willing to one day buy a car to do so.
I like talking to old people.

I also really want to live here:

or raise mini-goats in Grand Coteau.

PHILOSOPHY

No need for a thousand cranes.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

by staying at your house and cooking you brunch.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I met probably the two most amazing people I will ever meet in my life in Poland because they let me sleep in their bed every night while they slept on the floor on a yoga mat, and then one day I walked in and they had drawn all over the yoga mat with color pastels and taped it to the wall.

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: Tilly and the Wall, Mates of State, Josephine Baker, Edith Piaf, Camera Obscura, The Dresden Dolls, Beirut, Phosphoresent, Neutral Milk Hotel, Chantal Goya, Girl Talk, France Gall, Stars, Bonsoir Catin, Rilo Kiley, Eisley, Dolly Parton, Johnny Cash, The Arcade Fire, The Beach Boys, Ace of Base, Nina Nastasia, Jacques Brel, Bright Eyes, Elliott Smith, The Cranberries, Zest, Man Man, Radio Radio, The Howdies, Prom Date, Amédé Ardoin, MIA.......
Anything you hear in the Lapin Agil. Doowop. Musical instruments in places they don't belong like accordions in punk rock and beatboxing under mizmars and hurdy gurdies. Shruti boxes. Hand claps. Screaming. Tiny voices. Boy-girl harmonies. Stuff that sounds old but actually isn't. Stuff that is old. Intimate concerts. CAJUN AND ZYDECO. 60's girl groups. Anything that makes you want to bang on a table. The stuff they spin in Le Trosième Lieu until 3 a.m. (mais pas après)

Books: Bonheur d'Occasion de Gabrielle Roy. "The Cherry Orchard" by Checkhov. All by Tennessee Williams and Flannery O'Conner. "The Hunger Artist" by Franz Kafka. "You Remind Me of You" by Eireann Corrigan. Plus little stories my friend Cole used to write. "The Berlin Stories" by Christopher Isherwood. I've read "I Am a Camera" a thousand times...and I probably have to admit that Perks of Being a Wallflower was my coming-of-age. As well as most Joe Meno books. A bit into BD --I laugh out loud when I read Marjane Satrapi and Édika.

Movies: Une Femme est une femme. Jésus de Montréal. Les contes moraux d'Eric Rohmer. Gadjo dilo. Pierrot le Fou, Deux ou trois choses que je sais d'elle, Masculin Feminin, Vivre Sa Vie --let's just say Godard in general, especially in the 1960s..let's go ahead and say Angès Varda in general, too. Live showings of Rocky Horror at Studio Galande. Bedknobs and Broomsticks. Kontroll. Tarnation, Pecker. C.R.A.Z.Y. I won't even bother not mentioning Amélie. Just obtained a copy of Mourir à 30 Ans on DVD and it's waiting for me in Nice, can't wait to watch it. La Haine. La Môme. Moulin Rouge. Otesánek. Un Chien Andelou. Barefoot in the Park. Louisiana documentaries specifically, but documentaries in general (Pour la suite du monde). I really want to see My Winnipeg. I also love short films because I can stay awake through them.
