About Me

CURRENTLY INACTIVE COUCHSURFER

I created this account for traveling in Europe in summer 2017. I had many great experiences with it and wish to keep my profile so that I can use it to travel/host in the future. HOWEVER, I am currently back in school in Pennsylvania USA and will not be traveling for some time and at my current place of residence, I can not host anyone. Will update this profile when that changes. Till then, best of luck in your travels!

CURRENT MISSION

Make as many friends as possible, experience the wonders of the world, and make a positive impact on everyone I meet :)

ABOUT ME

I am a scientist by profession but an adventurer by heart.

Besides learning, I love music and dancing and experiencing global cultures. I explore a lot and try to hike as often as I can. I'm the kind of person who takes advantage of every opportunity and lives life to the fullest. I have just completed a physics research internship in Glasgow, Scotland and am using the rest of my summer to explore! I'm very sociable and love making friends:)

I'm into healthy living, yoga, and meditation and working to become more grounded in nature. I love animals and will squeal with joy everytime I see one! I love to laugh and listen to music and sing! I'm currently in a music fraternity (phi mu alpha) at my college at home which I am loving! I love the brotherhood and the mission to share great music with the world and lift others up.

One thing you should know about me is that I am LGBTQ and am very involved in the community and organize a lot of activism and education in my community. Take that as you will but please don't let that be a deciding factor in whether or not you'd host me :) I can get along with anyone and I value hearing differing opinions than my own. And I'm always curious about how different communities/peoples/cultures view these issues.

Aside from that, I enjoy nights out on the town and trying local beers in pubs. I'm a planner so I typically have three ideas lined up for any given night. So I don't think you'll be bored with me! I love eating food!! Especially trying cultural staples from where ever I am.

PHILOSOPHY

Live life in the moment. Be kind. Breathe. And have fun :)

Oh yeah! Almost forgot to mention! I'm a huge nerd and my recent obsession is board games!!! :D

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Edit 2018: ** no longer actively couchsurfing **

....

I have just completed a physics research internship in Glasgow, Scotland and am using the rest of my summer to explore! I'm on a limited budget and need to spend the majority of my money on transportation and excursions. I find Couchsurfing is a great option because it allows me to meet new people, experience the culture directly, and save money! I also find traveling alone (which I am currently doing) can get quite lonely, so staying with locals is fantastic and I've found the Couchsurfing community to be so welcoming and fun.

Couchsurfing also is helping me to regain my faith in humanity knowing that there are kind people out there willing to open up their homes and connect with strangers in a positive way.

Music, Movies, and Books

I listen to soft vocal music mostly. My favorite band is Simon and Garfunkle. I listen to folk music a lot too. And after a few months in Scotland, I have developed a taste for traditional highland music! I pretty much like all kinds of music though, punk, classical, indie, rock, blues, reggae, dance, folk, all of it!

I like Perks of Being a Wallflower. I don't think I have a favorite movie but I recently saw Adventurland. I like super hero movies too. And really bad movies are so much fun to watch, like The Room and Troll 2!

Favorite book is Hidden Figures. It’s a true story following three African American mathematicians working as computers at NASA and their contributions to getting a man into orbit and back again. Very inspiring:) Love to hear what your favorite book it, I'm always open to any recommendations!

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I just hiked in the highlands of Scotland for a weekend! That was pretty cool! We went up the coast of Loch Lomond and it was beautiful.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach you swing dancing and would love to learn any dancing that you know!

I can share my stories and I would love to hear yours! I love hearing people's stories!

I want to learn anything and everything:) Love trying new things!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can teach you about the wonders of living in suburban America, haha! I can teach you about physics and space or give you a crash course of anything and everything LGBT!

I will draw a portrait of you if you like! (I love drawing people)
