About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Move back to Hawaii, enjoy life, help people, reach for the stars, and learn about different cultures on the way

ABOUT ME

Hi, I'm Rob, an old school CS'er. I dropped everything Feb 2010 to study Permaculture and took the first flight to Hawaii, then to Chicago..to Bahamas...to Chicago...to Hawaii...the cycle continues! I like to grow and create edible landscapes.

I'm into health, nutrition, the outdoors, beaches, women, hammocks, bikes, motorcycles, cars, Sigma Chi, Bradley University, beach volleyball, and much more. So far I've worked in maintenance, construction, bars, hotels, restaurants, and engineering. Now I build custom Honda motorcycle aka revelmotorcycles

The best time to visit Chicago is from May-Sept if you like the beach and warm weather. If you like snow/wind/cold rain come October-March! I recommend biking the lakefront starting at North Ave Beach (Castaways) and heading south past Soldier Field. You go right past Lincoln Park Zoo, Oak Street beach, Navy Pier, Millennium Park/Grant Park, Museum of Science & Industry, Field Museum, Shed Aquarium, Planetarium, etc. This is where downtown is. Other cool things to do/see: architecture tour, shop Michigan Ave, visit Sears (Willis) Tower, John Hancock, Wrigley Field, Art Institute, eat, drink, & party. Bike, bus, & ell are the best ways to get around. Just ask if you have any questions and I'll lead you in the right direction.

PHILOSOPHY

I'm a minimalist, meaning I could live in nature with my hammock without a problem. With a mac, wifi, and some fruit...I could keep myself occupied for days and grow a business. With a bit of alcohol and some warm weather I'm down for just about anything. Live in fear or fear to live...the choice is YOURS! Experience life! Stay mobile and avoid long term commitment...for now at least.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm willing to help as much as possible. I love to meet new people, organize events and show them how I live....very basic. Time to start volunteering and giving back to the community.

Outdoor fun/events: Skydiving, Bungee Jumping, Wake boarding, Scuba, Sailing, Fishing, Kayak/Canoe Trip, Hiking, etc.

Road Trips:
The Dunes, Eco Villages, Woofing Farms, Historical Landmarks, Trails, Forests....anywhere

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've lived on futons and couches throughout college...so I think I could definitely do this long term or at least give it a try again. Every CSer I met is awesome and welcoming thus far.

Interests

I'm ready to try something new. I'm young, have a great friends & family, and am destine to eventually find my calling. Learning about alternative energy, gardening/aquaponics, creating my own permaculture/ecovillage, and then sailing while traveling the world. Or I may just work the 9-5 for 45 more years....NOT!

The short term goal is to get on my motorcycle, pack my hammock, food, and explore.

The long term goal is to do this short term goal the rest of my life all over the world.

Music, Movies, and Books

You can find me on the dance floor with the Beats, bass, and strobes...or swinging on a hammock relaxing...such a hard life. Audio books, music, and movies are key.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have lived a pretty simple life compared to those on TV, but I'm ready to try anything once. I live to survive.

Nov '09, I decided to fly down to Molokai, HI to hammock on the beach and take a 1 week permaculture course, then CSed in Oahu

Feb '10, I went back to Molokai, this time for a month of CSing and permaculture workshops...I almost didn't leave!

April '10, I flew out for 15 days to CS in Nassau, Bahamas to live the local life...and that's where I should eventually end up for good!

Sept '10...Back to Hawaii...Oahu, Maui, and Molokai for 3 months! Permaculture galore!!

2011.....Chicago....Home base until the cold comes...then Hawaii Feb/March 2012

2013 San Diego/LA Lived in Baja for 3 months

2014+ Hawaii for 6+ months...Chicago summer then back to Hawaii!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know a bit about everything...good "TV" and Internet make this very easy...and if I don't know I am willing to search for the answer...

So far I can teach you "engineering," making beer, basic outdoor survival, construction, permaculture, personal training, bartending...the list goes on! Just ask!
