About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I love to learn about people and culture by experiencing people and culture.

ABOUT ME

I live in in Downtown San Jose because I am in walking distance of City Hall, and I have easy access by public transportation to the greater Bay Area. San Jose is known for it's technology culture but I'm really glad that we are developing our own art and music culture. I love going to free music concerts and movie picnics in my spare time away from work. I work at De Anza College, a well-known college to a lot of international students who wish to transfer to the UC Colleges. I love my job because of the students I teach. As much as I am a teacher, I am also a pupil who learns from them as well.

PHILOSOPHY

Always maintain the child within. I work a lot, so in my spare time I try to remind myself to do something childlike. If I am stressed out, I call my nieces and talk to them. If there is a baby around, I sit there and play with the baby. Even when I travel to a new place, I try to look around with a childlike wonder. I think it's the best way to travel and see the world.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I participated as a surfer when I traveled to Mexico. I thoroughly enjoyed my experience. I hope to one day host some people in San Jose when I have my own space. For now, I don't mind providing a walking tour of Downtown San Jose and close surrounding areas. I don't mind helping travelers find their way as they plan their itinerary.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I've only had one couchsurfing experience thusfar. It was in Mexico. Rob was a great host to hang out; he offered his entire home to my friend and I. When my friend and I finally arrived at his place, he was hosting a donation party for his own trip. It was a good taste of culture for me because he had a band, good food, good drinks, and good company. I met a lot of different people of all ages there, and just hung out with them. The next day Rob took us to the beach and out to lunch. He was five minutes from the beach! I loved it. Thanks Rob!

Interests

I love walking and taking the bus. I love listening to music and watching foreign films. I love my mom's Filipino food, but I also love Thai food, Indian Food, Ethiopian food and Japanese food. I love the water because it provides instantaneous peace, so every chance I have, I try to go swimming.

Music, Movies, and Books

My two favorie movies are Howl's Moving Castle and While You Were Sleeping. I love music and I listen to everything, especially if it's free music. I'm most inspired by Alicia Keys, Indie Arie, and Musiq. The last books I read and enjoyed were "The Namesake" and "Dreams of My Father."
