About Me

Hi! My name is Vy. I'm married to a guy named Jesse and we tend to travel as a unit. We've been married for about 5 years and we have a dog that's essentially an 85 lb. lump of furry love. I'm in graduate school working on a master's of social work. He does lawyer things. We both enjoy nerdy things like gaming (video, board, and tabletop) and talking about whatever books and shows we're enjoying at the moment. Between the two of us, I tend to be the more talkative and outgoing one. Jesse will talk more if you can get him going on a topic that he enjoys.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

My favorite thing to do while traveling is to talk to people and to take in the local atmosphere. Sight-seeing is all good and fun, but it's people that makes a place memorable for me. I'm hoping that I can connect with locals on Couchsurfing in a way that is mutually enriching for both parties. I also hope that meeting people through Couchsurfing will help my husband feel a little less paranoid about using this site in general.

Interests

I, personally, enjoy going out and having a good time. For me, a good time might involve good food, a fun show, and maybe some dancing (Gangnam Style is my jam). It could also involve a night of food and board games. Or just food and hanging out and chatting. In short, if there's good food involved, I want to be there.

One thing I really enjoy doing when I travel is having afternoon tea at a local tea house. Every place does it a little differently and it's fun to see the different variations in it.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I ran my first 5k in August of 2018, and that was a pretty big deal for me!

Teach, Learn, Share

If you like literature (classic and otherwise), the husband is the guy to talk to about it. He was an English Literature major in college and will happily discuss and banter about literature. My background is in healthcare administration, so I'm always happy to talk with others about it to the extent that I'm able to.

What I Can Share with Hosts

Two of my current hobbies are quilting and soap-making. I'm always happy to bring a fun bar of soap or bar bomb for those who are interested. I also like sharing the things I enjoy with other people. Interested in trying new teas? Let's find a tea shop together! Want to try new board games? I'd be happy to give my recommendations and visit a games shop with you. In general, I'm up for whatever and am happy to accompany new friends in new adventures.
