About Me

I've traveled a lot in the U.S. for two jobs over the last 10 years: an event photographer for high school and middle school music performances, and an animal rights activist for a non-profit. I've been on a couchsurfing hiatus for too long and now that it's 2016 and I've recently quit my job, I'm ready to see the world and meet some new people. I've been eating mostly veg/vegan for 9 years and I love to cook. I'd be happy to cook for a host with local ingredients, what an adventure :-)

I play lots of instruments, like to hike, stay up late with drinks, talk about life... standard awesome things.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

While I'm traveling I'd like to meet friendly people that know the area I'm visiting and are excited to meet out of towners. Hostels are great but I want to get as much local flavor as I can in the places I choose to stay. So I'm definitely more interested in having hosts that want to hang out. I'd be happy to practice English too if you're looking for someone to speak with :-) Sadly I don't speak any other languages.

Music, Movies, and Books

Octavia E Butler, David Sedaris, Jonathan Lethem, Jonathan Safran Foer, plenty more. All time favorite music that I just keep coming back to: Tom Waits, No Use For A Name, Pedro the Lion, Chopin, The Toadies. All the pop-punk I sang my heart out too when I was 16. Favorite movie: Terminator II. Seen a million + movies it feels like. Favorite directors: Jeff Nichols, Christopher Nolan, James Cameron, Richard Linklater, Bryan Singer, Sam Raimi, etc etc....

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I have swam in a sea of beautiful bright fish on a tiny secluded beach somewhere in Hawaii when I was 12. I have performed in Carnegie Hall, I have watched the sunrise over a bridge in Prague and felt very close to being in love, I have eaten food made for me by a Russian Babushka in Moscow......

Teach, Learn, Share

I used to teach music and am pretty patient. I can teach just about anybody to play a few guitar chords. My background is in classical music and I have a degree in it and am heavily trained so can usually offer some type of advice/lessons/perspective.

I like to cook and bake vegan and enjoy helping people out in the kitchen.
