About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To win at rock, paper, scissors.
ABOUT ME
Well. I'm a CELTA certified english teacher and I'm looking to get a job in the Netherlands. Other than that I'm learning the Dutch language and starting my IT study at the TU.
I'm left-handed! Does that matter? Probably not, it just means I can't write in pencil without it smearing.
I also like the arts. Painting, writing, drawing, singing, listening to other people play the guitar since I'm not too good at it. Things like that. If you have a guitar bring it with you and we'll jam! Maybe you can even show me a few chords. Please? If anything I can add some vocals and maybe even some drums.
I'm from Texas (my accent isn't that strong and NO I don't like George Bush) but I must say, I really like the Netherlands. Of course there are some things I miss, but the Texas heat definitely isn't one of them.
PHILOSOPHY
Live in the moment; everything happens for a reason. It's what's gotten me this far, and I know it'll take me a lot further. All I know is there is no sense in worrying about yesterday; it's already passed, and tomorrow depends on today.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Normally I just do a lot of surfing, but now I have a really big room upstairs so I can host! Though we strongly suggest (and really just ask) that you please bring your own sleeping bag, though accommodate we can, minimally. If you don't need a place to surf, I'm up to hang out or grab a coffee (well, I don't drink coffee so maybe a tea or a beer instead). I also like going to the meetings in the neighboring cities and organizing a few events of my own when I can.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I spent the weekend in Utrecht for Midsummer's Nights activities and that was awesome! It was about 100+ couchsurfers and we did all sorts of games and ran around Utrecht. Then we all came together for a lovely jam session, some amazing food, and a giant dance party in an abandoned elementary school squat.

Music, Movies, and Books
Music: all sorts! From the biggies like the Beatles and the Stones, to smaller bands like Student Film, Someone Still Loves You Boris Yealtson. Muse, White Stripes, Raconteurs, Dead Weather, Jenny Lewis, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gorillaz, Sufjan Stevens, Andrew Bird, Man Man, Modest Mouse, Our Lady Peace, Evanesence, XX, !!!, Flaming Lips, Elvis Costello, Pearl Jam, Pheonix, Passion Pit, Hot Chip, and so much more.
Movies: Fifth Element (will always be a favorite), Kick Ass, Scott Pilgrim Vs. The World are some current favorites, but I like thrillers, comedies, action and all sorts.
Books: I'm reading "The Passage" right now, but my favorite authors include Christopher Moore, Douglas Adams, Dan Brown, Alan Moore, Dean Koontz...etc.
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
Either jumping out of a plane in south Texas or having the bells ring a few feet above my head in the bell tower in Venice. Both delivered an experience I really wasn't sure about. Stepping out of a plane way out in the middle of the sky goes against every reason in the body, and I wasn't even expecting the bells to start swinging on the hour. Don't know why, but it was a big and warming surprise that shook me to my core.
Teach, Learn, Share
I know English and Spanish to an extent, and I'm learning Dutch. I have a lot of cooking experience and music experience. I can draw/sketch and then I'm just pretty helpful in general: I like to clean and leave a place looking nicer than when I came.
I really just want to get a feel for the culture, which ever one I happen to be in the middle of. Language (partially), food, people, area...
