About Me
CURRENT MISSION
To learn and grow from all my experiences, both the good and the bad.
ABOUT ME
Kia Ora! My name is Ellen, I am a 19 year old New Zealander who occasionally is also Scottish or English. I'm travelling by myself this year until late August. I enjoy writing, singing, meeting new people and just general story telling. At the moment I'm taking a break from studying at drama school, where I go back next year to do a Diploma in Musical Theatre. As of now I'm also learning ukulele, not very good yet but maybe one day!
I should also warn you, I´m a bit of a hippy. I spent 7 years growing up on an eco-village and my parents are the coolest hippies ever! So if you have a need of amazing vegan cake recipes or a question about growing stuff, or just general random information that even I don´t know how I know, give me a buzz haha!
PHILOSOPHY
Smile and the world smiles with you.
I am a life time member of Karma Bank. Deposit good deeds and withdraw when you're down on your luck!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
My last couch surfing experience was staying with friends in Shropshire for a month. There I stayed and shovelled crap for a month! You guessed it I was working on a horse farm! The work was smelly and tiring but fantastic and my gracious hosts were absolutely lovely (I made them chocolate truffles before leaving!) -A great experience, in a beautiful place!
Interests
Reading, writing, singing, acting, being myself, generally having a good time, currently learning ukulele (I love my uku-mel-ele!) learning more about this marvellous world we all live in.
Some day I hope to be an author... actor... writer... you get the drill, - why make myself miserable trying to make money from a job I hate when I can try and turn hobbies into professions!

Music, Movies, and Books
This list is so long that half the time I don't even remember all the ones on it, so I'll give you my current favourites.
Books:
I read. A lot. So it's hard to say what I love most as I'll read everything from embarrassing-to-admit romance novels to crime novels, thrillers, manga and fantasy (big fan of fantasy though), I even like Twilight!
My all time fave though is "Willow Tree and Olive" by Irini Savvides
Movies:
I'll watch mostly anything, but I especially enjoy Hayou Miyazaki's anime movies, Moulin Rouge, Mirrormask, But I'm A Cheerleader and (not a movie but fantastic regardless) NCIS.
Music:
I'll listen to practically anything but have a soft spot for folk music and older stuff (no offense anyone) like Glenn Miller and Billie Holiday.
Not the biggest fan of synthetic type sounds or of hip hop and rap but I will freely admit to listening and loving some!
Fave bands at the mo include:
Suzanne Vega
The Indigo Girls
Ingrid Michaelson
Anika Moa (NZer)
The Dresden Dolls
Le Tigre
