Overview
About Me
I'm a non-binary, transmasculine art school wanderer.
From here on out I promise to endeavour to keep my pretentiousness to a minimum.
I'm not a painter, though I do occasionally dabble, and I have great respect for anyone confident with paints. I sort of shift media, but I lean towards sound-based performances.
I also do a lot of technical stuff in my university's theatre scene. I have a lot of respect for performers, cos I haven't the skills for acting/singing/dancing, and I love being a part of making their performances happen/making them look good.
I like walking, cycling, drawing, meeting new faces, going out dancing (badly, though I'd love more practice with no judgement), singing terribly, writing incomprehensible rubbish, and spending ridiculously long stretches of time wandering round galleries.
There are far too many things to be experienced to get around to everything, so there's no point stressing. I just try to do something I enjoy each day.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I like the idea of travelling, but I don't want to spend my time in a new town/country with the same people, in hostels or hotels. I want to hang out with locals, people who know the place from within.
One day, I'd like to be able to host. Unfortunately as I'm sharing a student flat, that's unlikely. I would be up for showing people around, though.

Music, Movies, and Books
I've been completely in like with David Bowie from a young age.
Beyond that, I like a variety. From Sufjan Stevens to The Runaways via Mother Mother and Kendrick Lamar. I'm trying to be less judgemental and give everything a fair try - my thinking is that most music has its place, so whilst I wouldn't listen to dub whilst writing, it can be fun to shake to.
In terms of films, again I like to dabble in genres. I usually don't choose to watch high octane action films or rom-coms, but occasionally when talked into it I do enjoy them.
I've been building up a jigsaw puzzle of context for my reading. I feel that the more I read, the more I understand about the world - and it feels so fantastic to have a book just fit perfectly into a gap in my knowledge. I think it's a great way to lean about other cultures if you can't visit them (or even as a side note if you can).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
The things that amaze me are the little things that people do.
That person who can calm a complete stranger's child down from a tantrum.
The way hospital staff, even when they have no idea who you are, are friendly to each other and talk to each other as friends.
When someone is unashamedly themselves and doesn't care that people are staring.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to learn new languages through talking to people and experiencing their culture. After all, what's the point of language if you don't use it to communicate?
Also, I'd love to meet people willing to show me the art/culture of their city.
What can I teach, or give to others? I'm not much of a teacher, but I can show people around Edinburgh.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I can cook for hosts (if you're willing to excuse my slapdash approach), I like to think I can hold a conversation, perhaps a lively debate.
