About Me

My name is Patricio Vélez, I'm a Foreign Relations student.
I have a big devotion to learning; I'm currently learning 2 languages ( Portuguese and German, on top of my current 2) and I dedicate myself to try diverse 30-day challenges, such as getting up at 5 am, having a cold showers, or meditating, that way I can get into other mindsets and keep on learning about my body, my environment, and my culture. Right now I'm doing a social media detox, I'll continue doing it for approximately a year or more.

My love for learning and continuous self-improvement is heightened in my passion for traveling. I come from a family of avid travelers and we like to have family vacations abroad every once in a while, that is why we've been to many countries and continents as a family. Even though I love to travel with my family, I am now looking to do so on my own so that I can have new experiences and get into adventures that most of my family members aren't intrepid enough to enjoy, such as kayaking in the Amazon river, trekking in the Himalayas or ice fishing in Russia.

One of my life goals is to visit the 7 wonders of the world (2 down), and while I am sightseeing for marvelous monuments and landscapes, I'm also looking to expand my vocabulary, since I believe that only by learning the local language you can immerse yourself into a foreign culture, and get to fully enjoy the experience. I've learned a lot from the countries I've been in and from the people I've met, but there are still 7 billion people in the world out there to meet, and learn from.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love this travel community, people here are just full of love and enjoy sharing it with fellow travelers and provide accommodation and a great local experience.

Couchsurfing is definitely one of my favorite apps on my phone, I used almost every day, it helps me connect with travelers around my city, attend super fun events and learn a lot more about traveling, I use it more often than Facebook.

Music, Movies, and Books

I have recently started listening to country, and I've fallen in love with it, I also like to listen to reggeaton whenever there's a party.
I love the summer so whenever I see a ''summer vibes'' playlist in Spotify I almost always listen to it.

I like movies a lot, I constantly change what my favorite movie is, but I enjoy watching almost anything. My favorite TV show won't change and that will always be ''That 70's show''.
I don't read that often, the last book I read was ''Astrophysics for people in a hurry'' by Neil Degrasse Tyson, now I am currently ready ''The pillars of the earth'' by Ken Follet.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I once attended a music festival in Dahab, Egypt with a guy I met the day before and was joined with some of his friends. It was an absolutely amazing experience.

I had bought two tickets to go see Milky Chance, but none of my friends could go with me, and so I went on Instagram and saw that one of the artists that I like was in my city, so I sent him a DM and went to see Milky Chance with him.

I am very open to new experiences, and I try to be doing things out of my comfort zone.
I tend to be Seeking Discomfort.
