About Me

Heey, I love to meet other people and hear about their experiences. I think we all should connect more and create a community where mutual aid would be commonplace.

I plan to go backpacking next year after I finish my studies. I plan to use Workaway and similar platforms to immerse better in the local culture. My current idea is to go to South America because it seems to me that there are many interesting initiatives there and that people are more chill. That is why I started learning Spanish, but I am still a beginner.

And despite always being up for fun, I like serious discussions about any common interest of us.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I was going to a volunteering camp in the Netherlands and decided to try to find a host here, but at the end didn't have luck here and found a host in another way.

But, the concept of the app seems awesome, so I will probably use it more in the future, whenever I travel somewhere. Sadly, I would not be able to provide accommodation to anybody now since I am an undergraduate student living in a dormitory, but eventually I would gladly do that too.

Interests

Even though I study pure mathematics, I am interested in various other topics. I sometimes even think about changing my degree to anthropology or sociology, but I easily drop those ideas mostly due to economic reasons.

I love to be in nature and go hiking and camping, but haven't done it so much and I want to change that.

I also started practicing capoeira several months ago and it is a really interesting area due to the rich anticolonial history as well as the community-oriented philosophy that is found under it. And also you get to learn some self-defence as well as to play interesting instruments such as a berimbau.

When feeling down, I often opt for a relaxing anime such as the whole iyashikei genre. It is a soo funny type of anime where you get to see a lot of cute animals and people in various regular situations.

Music, Movies, and Books

I mostly listen to punk due to its aggressiveness, speed and/or lyrics. I often go to local concerts, but I also like more famous bands such as The Exploited, The Casualties, Bad Religion, Anti-Flag... Apart from punk, I also like metal such as System of A Down or something folk as Eluveitie. On top of that, I sometimes like to listen to Hozier, too. But, I am not that rigorous, I am up for listening to almost any genre. I also plan to learn to play drums (should work a lot more on that) and master berimbau for capoeira.

When it comes to books, I like historical and philosophical stuff such as Orwell's A Homage to Catalonia or Down and Out in Paris and London. However, fiction can be awesome too, for example a masterpiece - The Dispossessed by Ursula Le Guin. But, currently I plan to read more anthropological stuff about the experience of people living in totally different conditions, for example Forest People by Colin Turnbull. Also, Marshall Sahlins is amazing!

Recently, I have not watched many movies. A few years ago I used to watch a few every week in a local squat cinema. If you are into alternative places that cinema (Zvezda) is one of the must-see places in Belgrade. Anyway, similarly to the books, I like philosophical and psychological ones, but also ones about social issues or interpersonal relations. Some that I like are Death by Hanging (in fact it is not morbid at all lol), Goodbye Children, Mr Nobody...

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Cutting trees in a Dutch moor with my leg in the mud up to the hip lol

Or maybe mudwalking in the Netherlands haha

Tried to dumpster dive in Belgrade

Participated in the International Math Olympiad

Teach, Learn, Share

I can give you many interesting logical and math puzzles and paradoxes and show you that mathematics can be fun and creative and no one should be afraid of it. Additionaly, I can show you a riddle that was solved only by around 15 high school students and would be rather difficult even for university professors, despite the fact that a 10-year-old knows everything that is needed for coming up with a solution.

Or I can tell you about my experience in a local Solidarity kitchen based on horizontal principles. Or a few other similar initiatives that I have been involved in. I would love to hear if you have been in any too!

I can also teach you some programming. Or basic movements in capoeira or parkour. But beware, my parkour skills are not good haha.

I would love to hear and learn basically anything. I think learning new stuff is most often quite fun!

What I Can Share with Hosts

I would gladly help with anything that is needed. I believe that is a nice way to get to know each other, too. And also, we can exchange our knowledge and experiences.
