About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Meet all kind of people and learn more about their customs and culture

ABOUT ME
We started our bicycle tour around the world in front of our home in Switzerland/Zuerich. Our adventure led us from Switzerland through East Europe, Turkey, Iran, Pakistan, Tibet, and Nepal to India. We enjoined so much the scenery in the Himalayas and crossed some of the highest passes in the world. Aboard a yacht we sailed across the Indian Ocean to Malaysia. Since we reached South-East Asia, we wheeled through Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and China. From Shanghai we took a ferry-boot to Japan and crossed Nippon from the north to the south. Another ferry-boot brought us to South-Korea; from there we boarded a container ship, which brought us in 2 weeks over the Pacific Ocean to Mexico. We pedaled through Mexico Baja California and entered into the USA.
After our second and longer stay in Mexico, where we helped in different volunteer projects, we cycled to Canada, where we worked for a year. Afterwards we took a ferry boot to Alaska. Since then we cycled all the way from Alaska to Panama. From Panama we joined a 5 day passage on a motor sailing boat to Colombia and pedaled through the Andes and Patagonia. We pedaled the whole American continent from the north to the south, from Anchorage/USA to the Land of fire (tierra del fuego)in Usuhaia Patagonia/Argentinia, the very southern tip of South America.
From Buenos Aires, we took a ferry to Colonia del Sacramento, crossed whole Uruguay and pedaled mainly along the beach towards Santos. In Brasil, we boarded a 350m long container ship, which sailed in 10 days over the Atlantic Ocean to South Africa. On board of a huge container vessel we crossed the Atlantic Ocean to South Africa. In Southern Africa we crossed the Drakensberg pedaled in the rugged Kingdom of Lesotho and continued through the Karoo semi desert towards Port Elizabeth. Along the Garden Route we push biked to Cape Town and continued northwards to Namibia, crossed Botswana, visited the roaring Victoria Falls on the Zimbabwe side and pedaled through Zambia, Malawi, Tanzania, Rwanda, Uganda, Kenya, Ethiopia, Sudan to Egypt. Through the Sinai peninsula we left the African continent and boarded in Israel a cargoship to Europe, Italy. We crossed Greece and the Balkans and have been back in switzerland since 3 weeks.

So far, we cycled about 101024km (60000 miles) and covered 22000 nautical sea miles (about 25000 miles/40000Km) on board of different ships. We covered the entire distance overland and overseas, without boarding an airplane.
We truly enjoy that way of transportation. Not too fast, not too slow and you have plenty of time to suck in to the surroundings and getting in contact with the lovely locals.
Just be careful! If you head of for a longer trip, you got addicted to it and you never want to stop. ;-)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

We are mostly impressed about the hospitality, kindness and friendliness of human beings in poor countries.
Cycled over high mountains in the Himalayas and Andes and could cross all the Oceans on board of different boats.
