ABOUT ME

I am a graduate student. My name is pronounced same as "you", the second person in English. It must be easy to remember, but can be confusing sometimes. I'm majoring in British Literature and did exchange to the University of Oslo in Norway for one year.

Norway was a good place to learn British Literature, since firstly Norwegians are really good at English, especially the people in university. (They say that the reason for their fluent English lies in Norwegian TV, which broadcasts many American and British programs with Norwegian subtitles.) Besides, as you know, Norway is close to UK, so some lecturers come to Norway to teach their subjects, which was also fine for me. I also studied Norwegian. Norway has famous writers as Henrik Ibsen and I felt I should feel the very language from such writers. I have also studied Italian in my undergraduate days, but I'm almost forgetting it, though I'd like to pick it up again.

I am interested in literature, which means I am curious about languages, people, places, and lives! That's one reason for my being on CS now :)

I completed my thesis about Jane Austen, a female writer in Britain in the beginning of 19th century. Her novels are now in a sort of sensation all over the world. Considering her time in Britain, her style of writing is really amazing. Here learned I first the usage of "free indirect speech," which is still a popular style of writing. I think this style matches to my taste really well. I am going to study hopefully about the relationship between James Joyce and Norwegian writers like Ibsen.

I loved jogging outside, since I belonged to a Track and Field club. I specialized in 400m hurdles. To dash 400m and jump 10 hurdles.... it was quite tough. But I loved it, I still love it, though I can't dash that long distance now. It forced me to think about so any things at the same time while dashing, which is totally different from 100m race.

I am not so chattering but rather quite and conversational: I would be good at listening to you, friends. Of course, I like to talk with friends, but sometimes my words just don't come from my mouse for my physical tiredness or surprise with strong impressions from people. Or I might be "a studier of character" as Elizabeth in _Pride and Prejudice_ and thinking something in my mind, I would say. But, you will see... I should not say so much about my taste before meeting you, but meet various people from all over the world :-)

I'll add more about myself when I could squeeze some free time :) Anyway, just feel free to contact with me.
