About Me
Hi Couchsurfing!
My name is Vera (they/them), I'm 27 years old, and I live in Utrecht, the Netherlands. I’d describe myself as open-minded, curious, and always up for a good laugh!
In everyday life, I’m a program maker and dramaturg, working passionately in theater and performance. My work often centers around creating transformative and inclusive spaces, where people can learn, grow, and connect with each other in meaningful ways. I believe deeply in the power of community—where people from different backgrounds can come together, share their experiences, and support each other.
Community learning and living inspire me endlessly. I’m drawn to exploring how we can collectively imagine and shape more inclusive and accessible futures. As a queer person, I’m particularly committed to supporting queer and gender-diverse spaces that foster well-being and representation.
Outside of my work, I love cooking (vegan for more than seven years!), reading queer literature, watching movies, and exploring art festivals or going out for a dinner with friends. I get so much energy from sharing meals and stories with others, as I believe food and conversation can be transformative experiences that strengthen our sense of belonging and connection.
Let me know if you’re up for sharing stories, laughter, and ideas—I’m excited to meet people and experience different perspectives!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I love to travel, meet new people, and see the world through different eyes. There's something incredibly meaningful about experiencing a place from someone else's perspective—discovering your favorite spots, hearing your best travel stories, and understanding what makes a city or landscape come alive for you. I’m always eager to explore hidden gems that only locals know, whether it's a cozy café, a breathtaking view, or a vibrant street full of history.
What excites me most about traveling is the connections I make along the way. Sharing stories, swapping experiences, and learning about the world from people with unique perspectives is something I truly cherish. I believe every interaction can teach us something new, and that travel is as much about the people you meet as it is about the places you visit.
I’d love to hear what makes your hometown special or where your most memorable adventures have taken you. Whether it’s over a shared meal, a walk through your favorite neighborhood, or just exchanging travel tales late into the night, I’m excited to see the world through your eyes and share some unforgettable experiences together.

Music, Movies, and Books
Ooeff, favorite books! My absolute favorite has to be The Feminist Killjoy—I even created a whole project inspired by its themes, exploring how we can create transformative and inclusive spaces that embrace discomfort and critical thinking. I’ve also really enjoyed Hex and 1984, books that have stuck with me long after I finished them. Beyond fiction, I love reading about current themes like anti-racism and queer topics, always looking to challenge and expand my understanding.
Outside of books, I’m a huge fan of podcasts that share engaging stories or deep-dive into social issues. And when it comes to movies and series, I can get completely lost in a good story. Some of my all-time favorites are Sense8 for its beautiful celebration of connection, Fleabag for its raw and witty take on life, and Heartstopper, which I fell in love with for its heartwarming and affirming portrayal of queer love and friendship.
Whether it’s through books, podcasts, or series, I’m drawn to media that explores complex, meaningful themes and offers different ways of looking at the world. I’d love to hear your favorites or share some recommendations!
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
A few years ago. I was traveling through Iceland with two of my friends. We'd rent a car and travelled through the south of Iceland. This was one big amazing thing I've done; visiting a plane wreck, seeing so many waterfalls and walking multiple hiking routes.
What I Can Share with Hosts
Happiness and good conversations are what I’m all about! I like to think of myself as an open, curious person who loves meeting new people, exploring different cultures, and embracing new experiences. I’m always up for a meaningful chat or a playful exchange, and I’m known for being an easy talker who genuinely loves hearing others' stories and perspectives.
I’m highly aware that the Dutch kitchen isn’t exactly world-famous for its exciting range of flavors, but I promise I can make you a mean batch of vegan pancakes for breakfast! I’ve been vegan for almost seven years, and I love experimenting with plant-based recipes. Sharing food is one of my favorite ways to connect with people, and I believe that a meal can be the perfect setting for laughter, conversation, and a little culinary creativity.
So, whether we’re swapping stories over breakfast or exploring hidden spots in the city, I’m excited to create memories and share experiences that celebrate the beauty of our differences and the things that bring us together.
