About Me

I grew up in the Netherlands, studied in Germany for two years, then another year in Italy and now I'm living in the greatest city of all, Berlin! I am a very positive person and try to learn from whatever and whoever crosses my path.

I am passionate about taoism, muay thai boxing, ballet, painting, motorcycles, and basically anything that puts a smile on my face and makes me feel alive.

PHILOSOPHY

Immortality is living you life doing good things and leaving your mark behind.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Couchsurfing is a lifestyle to me, not only a website. It allows us to get to know a city/place from the inside, from a local perspective, and to me that is the most amazing form of travelling! Many times during travelling I chose to go with hosts instead of a fixed plan with cities or places I wanted to see, and it has always proven to be the right choice!

Music, Movies, and Books

You know when you try to measure your level of skill in a language? Besides a classic language qualification I measure myself by reading my favourite books in the new language. My favourite book would be Embers, written by Sandor Marai. When it comes to music I try to meet my mood, so that can go from a piano concert by Rachmaninov, a raw sunday evening with Janis Joplin, moshing to Flogging Molly, or an all blues monday morning with Gregory Porter.

Movies that touched me in some sort of way; Million Dollar Baby, Children of Men, City of God, Teenage Dirtbag, La Grande Bellezza, and many more.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

can.not.choose.
- Driving from Italy to Holland on my motorbike
- Volunteering in Romania for several months
- Living in Italy in an amazing house with 8 people, spending my days making pasta, drinking red wine, and discussing a new world order
- Hiking through Scotland

Teach, Learn, Share

Teach: how to touch your head with your foot whilst standing up
Learn: I would love to learn how to make the figures on top of the cappuccino! What I probably should learn is how to change a tire.... :)
