About Me
Hi,
my name is Verena, I'm 24 years old and I just finished my semester abroad in Hong Kong. I grew up in Germany (Bavaria, Munich) and after I finished High School I decided to take a year abroad and became an Au Pair in the US. Ever since that time I love travelling and exploring new areas.
I grew up with 2 sisters, my parents, 2 cats, a couple fishes, 2 donkeys and a horse. I've lots of family (31 cousins and still counting!) and really good friends, who I love to have around.
I would say I'm pretty easy going, open-minded and fun to have around. I never had trouble bonding with people and I will most likely invite you to visit me in Germany after we had a good time (I'm living pretty close to Oktoberfest, so don't miss out on that!!) !
I will go back to Germany in December.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I'm really looking forward to meeting people, hang out, maybe cook together, explore and just have a good time. Also if you don't have time or any interest in doing those things, I don't mind either.
Maybe you got an insider about your city and why you decided to live there. I love knowing people all over the world and so far I'm counting people in Sweden, Columbia, Venezuela, Spain and Austria to my friends.
People that are living in different areas of the world always got a lot of stories to share and that's something I think is really cool.
I guess those are the main reasons.
Another thing to consider when you are a poor traveling student: I'd rather spend my money on food than a crappy hostel!
Interests
I love watching football! When I lived in Germany I never watched football since we are big on soccer (Bayern Munich!!!) but since I'm here I fell in love with american football. I also love chicken wings and the SuperBowl of course.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
One amazing thing I've done so far happened in June 2014 when I went to Uruguay. We got invited to participate at the Rondas, a social project like summer camp but waayyyyy less luxurious and waaayy better than I could have imagined! Seeing those people being so happy with the stuff that they had and just smiling all day made me feel a little ashamed about how we always want more and more and are still not able to be happy.
It changed my way of thinking completely and I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to make that experience.
Teach, Learn, Share
I can definitely teach the german language and I also play a little guitar.
I'm open to learn whatever you are interested in!
What I Can Share with Hosts
If you want to I will give you a little german crash course, a couple words, all there is to know about beer (haha :D), Oktoberfest and german culture.
I'm sure there will be stories and experiences to share, travel tips or knowledge.
Best of all: I'm always open to share a drink or two!
