About Me

Hey Everyone,

I just quit my job so I can go traveling and exploring.

I'm born and raised in Southern California and have been working in Washington state for the past 4 years. After doing the same 9 to 5 routine, I realized that life is short and that there's more to life than just making money and paying bills. So I escaped out of that corporate culture.

I'd like to explore different places and learn more about the world around me. I can't wait to get out on the road.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I feel that meeting locals in a certain country is the best way to get a real experience for the environment. Couchsurfing is a perfect opportunity for me meet those who know the country well and can give me a different perspective on the daily lives of people in a particular country.

Interests

Playing the saxophone, running, meditating, yoga, reading, writing, drinking/socializing, and hiking. I'm sure my interests will grow as I travel around!

Music, Movies, and Books

Favorite music: I really love hip hop/ hip-hop instrumentals. I would say the best era of hip hop music was back in the 90's. Some of my fave hip hop artists are A Tribe Called Quest, 2Pac, Notorious BIG, Nas, and Wu-Tang Clan. I also love Jazz Music such as Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Stan Getz, and Charles Mingus. I'm into R&B and House/Trance music as well.

Favorite movies: Goodwill Hunting, Rushmore, Quentin Tarantino Movies, Comedy Movies like Anchorman, Forrest Gump, Back to the Future Trilogy

Favorite Books: I love reading Classics....some of my favorites are East of Eden, Cannery Row, Tortilla Flat, The Picture of Dorian Gray, The Great Gatsby, Catcher in the Rye, Crime and Punishment, and To Kill a Mocking Bird. I also like reading personal development books.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Just recently, I did a 10 day Vipassana meditation retreat. I didn't realize how challenging it would be. I underestimated how physically and mentally exhausting sitting for an hour or more can be. But what I found amazing about the whole experience is how much better I am in dealing with different situations. I've learned the importance of being equanimous in my thoughts and in my actions.

Teach, Learn, Share

I can teach people how to read music and how to play the saxophone. I can teach people about some html/css as I am starting up a website. I can also teach English since I'm from the U.S.

I'd like to learn about other people's lives and experiences so i can get a broader perspective and what really matters in life and how to just live better.

When I host, I can share pretty much anything in the kitchen and the common area.

What I Can Share with Hosts

What I can share with hosts are stories about myself and any advice they might ask of me.

I can share my knowledge on what they might need help with. If someone is looking to learn English, I can help them out with that. I can help them with website stuff and any other computer questions. If someone wants to learn some music theory and how to play the saxophone, I can teach them too!
