About Me
Hey! Nice meeting you all couchsurfers. As my profile says, my name is Veronica, and I am from Montevideo, Uruguay, a little but very beautiful country in South America.
In February of this year 2018, I quit my job and started a long trip with some friends I met at University. My personal purpose with this trip was to get closer to a lot of different cultures and realities around the world, to learn from them, to broaden mind as much as possible, as well as getting to know myself a little better, a task that I think is never ending while we are alive -specially when we are travelling and things can get outside of our confort zone pretty often-.
Seven months have passed since I left my home on the 26th February, and now my friends are back in Uruguay and I decided to keep travelling on my own. I think that this will give me the oportunity to get to know tons of new people and to continue discovering beautiful places and adventures.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
In this trip, I have learned that the best way to get to know a place, is by knowing their locals, by seeing how they live and learn from their habits, common places, activities, stories and recommendations. That’s the real inner experience!
Interests
I am specially fond of activities that involve being in contact with nature, and enjoying the real peace of mind that nature can provide us. Cycling, running, swimming, scuba diving, going for a trekking or hiking in the mountains, or simply strolling in a park full of trees and clean air, are the activities that most commonly have been the unforgettable highlights of my trip so far.
Music, Movies, and Books
I really enjoy any kind of music, book, movie or media experience that has some interesting message to give. I prefer Spanish movies because I just love the correctness of the the Spanish accent from the actors and actresses (in Uruguay we also speak Spanish, but in a quite different -maybe incorrect- manner).
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I would’t say that this is incredible, but it certainly is incredibly stupid: I lost my cellphone in the middle of the Thar Dessert, in India, while taking some sunset photos. When I noticed my cellphone was gone, I was determined to search every dune until I found it. It was really hard, specially with the night wind and with no lights. I walked around and around in that magnificent dessert, moving sand everywhere I could. In the end, I found it! :)
Teach, Learn, Share
I love learning new stuff and sharing long talks and experiences. I think that any person that I run into has something to teach me, even though he or she may not even notice.
What I Can Share with Hosts
I would like to get to know you and your history, to drink a coffee or maybe a beer and talk as old friends who haven’t seen each other in a while. I’m afraid I’m not a good cook, but we can always order pizza (my treat).
