Overview
About Me
I was born and raised in Fresno, California. Fresno is located in the central part of California. It is considered to be the agricultural capital of the world. My family were Germans from Russia who traveled, to Fresno, in 1898. We have lived there ever since!
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
I recently backpacked in Europe. My boyfriend and I focused more on interacting with the locals (including couchsurfing guests and hosts) than visiting the tourist attractions. I've never traveled in such a way before. My experience has inspired me to invest more time with this couchsurfing community. Although I don't have the time and resources to travel all of the time, I think I can learn just as much about other cultures and people by hosting events and meeting up with travelers. I would love to share more about my hometown, Fresno, as well!
Interests
My biggest hobby is dancing. I love listening to swing/big band music and dancing the Lindy Hop and Charleston.
I am fascinated with history of places and events. My favorite historical topics are art and war.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I live in Fresno, California. It's a city that often receives negative attention. I started a blog, That Fresno Blog. My blog talks about the history, people, businesses, events, and anything positive about my hometown. I have received "person of the year" award for the work I have done with my blog.
Teach, Learn, Share
Teach: I can teach people swing-dancing. Dancing keeps you happy and young both mentally and physically!
Learn: I am always interested in learning how to create and be more self-sufficient: cooking different dishes, sewing, growing, and anything else!
Share: I'm never shy when it comes to talking about my hometown!
What I Can Share with Hosts
I think traveling is the best way to learn and to grow. I would like to share, with my hosts, our cultures, knowledge, and stories.
I am happy to improve my sewing skills by mending any or altering any clothes.
