About Me
CURRENT MISSION
"Let the world change you so that you can change the world" :) I want to travel and experience the wonders that the world has to offer.
ABOUT ME
I'm a third year student at the University of California San Diego. I'm double majoring ethnic studies and international studies with a focus on sociology. I am currently studying abroad in Granada, Spain and will be doing so for a year. After earning my Bachelor of Arts I want to pursue a Masters in Education. I was born in California but my parents were born in Jalisco, Mexico. I am very proud of my Mexican heritage. :)
I believe that everything happens for a reason :)
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
I am completely amazed with CouchSurfing. The kindness that is shown from complete strangers is what has shocked me the most. I was brought up to trust no one, specially not strangers and that there is badness in all people. I think in part that is due to my culture. But I am glad to have been able to resist those teachings. With the years I've come to realize that there are genuinely a lot of nice people in this world and couchsurfing proves my theory. :D

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I traveled to Guatemala a few months ago and the experience I had there was amazing! I went through a volunteer organization and we worked with kids at an elementary school located in a poor rural village. The people there were so caring and so happy to have us. The majority of the population was indigenous and lived in horrible conditions just a few minutes away from the capital city. What impressed me the most was that even though they were poor they offered us everything they had. What touched me the most was a little boy probably around 7 years of age that came up to me and gave me his candy. This little boy rarely had money to buy sweets and the one time that he did he gave it to me. I still have that candy and I will treasure it forever.
