About Me

I've been living in Hong Kong for the last 2 years and plan to stay for a while longer. I am currently teaching English and while there are many parts of it I love, I'm hoping to get back into work either in Tourism (was a tour guide for 4 years), or in Training and Development (diversity, community-building, inclusion are all very important for me).

I love languages and can get by in 4, hoping to make that 5 by the end of 2018! Although Cantonese is definitely proving to be an exciting and difficult challenge so far.

I love new experiences and seek them out. I'll try just about anything at least once.

I was vegetarian for 10 years but since moving to Asia I've been eating meat since I want to be free to try all the amazing food!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love the idea of CS, first of all. Although I haven't been the most active member, ever since joining ages ago (proud of that Pioneer badge!) I've loved the idea of people opening their doors to someone and sharing experiences and their style of life.

I studied Anthropology and Religions because society and culture fascinates me - there is so much to learn from other people! I love that Couchsurfing allows this to happen.

Interests

Talking to people and hearing about their lives!

Some people get really good at one thing... I tend to start a million little things and never excel at any of them. Mostly because I love, and chase after, new experiences.

What I Can Share with Hosts

As a guest I try to be extremely considerate of the fact that you are living your daily life.

I am always up for lengthy conversations over tea, coffee or beer (about politics, religion, race, culture, languages, travel, life, work, the weather).

Alternatively, if you're busy or don't have the energy to entertain a stranger I am happy to share the space respectfully and take care of myself. I can adapt to the time and energy you have for hosting!

I can share some fun facts about the languages I've studied, stories about my 12-year old students, teach you how to knit, book recommendations... what else? I guess you'll find out :)
