About Me

I grew up in a small town in Austria near Vienna. I have two sisters and two cats. I love to spend time with my friends and Family but I also enjoy solitude very much.
After graduating from high school I decided to take one year off just to sort my self out and to get to know myself a little better. I guess the reason for my trip in the end, was mainly because I felt like i needed to get myself „out there“ more and be by myself for a while but also just to take a well-deserved break, really. So I went to New Zealand for half a year, backpacking, volunteering, on my own and it was an amazing and life changing experience! I really enjoyed traveling solo but had a lot of travel companions who I met on the way which I enjoyed a lot as well.

As for my personality, you’ll get to know me once you meet me :))

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love meeting new people and generally I’m always excited to see new places. I enjoy traveling and growing through all the experiences you get from it
I find it very interesting to talk to strangers, getting to know them and their interests and stories and of course their culture, traditions, language and history - you can learn so much from each person you meet!

Music, Movies, and Books

Music: generally open to every genre really; my most popular ones: indie & alternative pop/rock, electronic, rap, world music, jazz, oldies, classical music, lofi hiphop, 80s, etc
some of my favourite musicians: Crystal Fighters, Beirut, Tom misch, Carla Bruni, Parcels

Films: open to any recommendations always!! I like movies in „a weird or specific style“, like the ones by Woody Allen, Wes Anderson, Roman Polanski (eg: Vicky Cristina Barcelona; midnight in Paris) or french movies (eg: Bonjour Tristesse) and just recently watched “20th century women” which I absolutely loved too

(I guess I am a bit of a hopeless romantic sometimes and I tend to lose myself in books and movies)

Books: I have some favourite Austrian authors: Wolf Haas and Mariana Leky (just because I really enjoy the Austrian humour for one, and both their writing styles a lot)
I’m also a huge fan of Gioconda Belli (her autobiography really inspired me)
I also loved reading „the hundred year old man who climbed out of a window and disappeared“ because I like the combination of politics and humour
Other than that I really like to read plays since I’m interested in theatre

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Helping a 70-year old woman build her dream home - an earthship
Traveled solo and enjoyed it so so much
Became happy and content with who I am (which I learned through traveling solo for the most part)
Meeting and getting to know so many beautiful strangers who I will always be grateful for! I had the most beautiful memories from my travels with people that I hadn’t known before but who feel like friends and Family now

Teach, Learn, Share

I guess i can teach you how to cook a few Austrian dishes (I dont eat meat and mostly eat and cook vegan)
I can tell you about Austrian culture, traditions and politics; I can share my view of things and life and I’m curious to learn your way of life!

What I Can Share with Hosts

a little bit of this and a little bit of that (including cooking skills, music and art I enjoy, good talks, laughs and just my view of life I guess :))
Come visit me in Vienna if you’re there!
