About Me

I’m putting this at the top of the profile because of bad experiences: I AM IN THE SUBURBS, NOT DOWNTOWN. Also, requesting a stay with me while shopping around for a more convenient place is NOT OK. IT’S REALLY RUDE because my time keeps getting wasted with this.

Ahem, now for the normal stuff :)

I'm a lifelong resident of the D.C. area, former journalist and nurse, now a nurse practitioner!

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I just think it would be fun to meet people from other places. If you'd like to stay here, please let me know what brings you to the area. Also please note that I have cats. Finally, I do require references, and full COVID vaccination plus booster.

Looking forward to some great conversations!

P.S. Because these are strange times: I don't care who you voted for, but if you believe 1) Jan. 6 was really antifa; 2) Joe Biden is not the legal president; 3) The Democratic Party operates pedo tunnels; etc., stay away from me!

Interests

I'm passionate about the environment, climate change in particular, because I think it's an issue that is almost totally ignored relative to its impact on human health and happiness. I also used to be a print journalist and am still a news junkie, so I'm interested in all things related to current events and the craft of writing.

Music, Movies, and Books

I fell in love with REM and Radiohead as a teenager and never get tired of them. But now I'm all about Portugal the Man.
I don't watch TV much, but think Breaking Bad is one of the best shows ever made. The Expanse is also fantastic.
Picking a favorite book is hard as I read voraciously, mostly nonfiction. As of this writing, I'm reading about alternative energy.

Teach, Learn, Share

My one unusual skill is foraging, and I love company when I'm out looking for useful wild plants. I'm also delighted to learn/share knowledge about all kinds of things, including all things nursing/health-related, self-sufficiency, the outdoors, cooking, etc.

Countries I’ve Visited
