ABOUT ME

Good day! I am Vieta!

I'm an Indonesian illustrator and storyteller currently based in Helden, the Netherlands.

My interest of traveling started in 2012 when I did backpacking trip crossed mainland of Southeast Asia. I couldn’t stop the wanderlust since then.

In 2015, I quit my office job in my homeland and invested myself on what I the most joy, traveling. I lived my dream with the Work & Holiday Visa in Australia for almost 2 years. As Indonesians, this visa is limited per year to only 1000 people aged 18 to 31 years old. Indonesia population of nearly 250 million people meant yes, I was one of those lucky ones. I left my heart there in the desert town of Alice Springs, Australia.

Long story short, I met my loving Dutch husband in Australia and that’s why now I'm settling for a while in the Netherlands.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I used CS to connect with generous people who willing to share their couch and knowledge for me when I was travel alone. Hopefully I can do the same when my place set up, soon.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I hosted only two times so far, girls from Germany and Canada. But I had surf experiences in Saigon, Vietnam also Darwin, Alice Springs, Adelaide and Mebourne, Australia.

BOOKS: I grew up with Harry Potter.

MOVIES: Definitely not Blockbusters.

MUSIC: Indie music, oldies, or 90's British bands. Radiohead, Blur, Oasis, Pulp, Massive Attacks, The Stone Roses and more. But most of the time I really open for any kind of music.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

• Roamed the mainland of Southeast Asia
• Swam with whale sharks in Oslob, The Philippines
• Scuba diving in Sabang, Aceh, Indonesia was one of my life highlights. I celebrated my 23rd birthday underwater!
• Didn't take any flights during my Work & Holiday Visa in Australia.
• Migrating to the land of far far away, Netherlands.

Teach, Learn, Share
