Sobre Mim

ABOUT ME

Hey, I'm Vanessa. I'm a Graphic Designer from Bristol and try to travel as much as I can. I love meeting people and learning about culture. Exploring new places, especially those off the beaten track is something I find really exciting, but occasionally I like to retreat to some familiarity.

I like live music, coffee...followed at some point by a beer ;), markets, art, film, hiking.

I don't like being cold - I have travelled to a few cold places before and discovered I don't function all that well, so I tend to go to Asia if I get the chance. Plus I love Asian food!

PHILOSOPHY

Deep! I'm a great believer in respecting other people's way of life/religion/choices etc, even if they are different to my own. When I'm travelling, I prefer to do things the hard way, as in get the rickety old night train and feel like I've earned the destination at the end rather than travel in luxury. You save money and end up meeting some great people along the way. I feel like I get along with most and I find people in general interesting to talk to. My philosophy would be pretty simple really; be friendly, helpful, respectful and inclusive and you end up learning lots and having fun.

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I can't really offer space so easily at the moment, but very up for meeting up with people to show them around Bristol.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Not a lot - I've had this profile for a while but haven't really utilised CS all that much. I've used it for sharing lifts mostly.

Interesses

I really love live music - I couldn't pick a favourite genre. I could spend all night in a Jazz bar, but just as easily at a Reggae night or a Folk festival. I'm in a Funk Soul band (I play saxophone), so I'm out gigging a fair bit, which is one of my favourite things to do.

Something I don't really do; I don't like clubbing or loud bars playing chart music - I either want to sit and talk to you in a pub or a bar where the music isn't so loud I can't hear you, or I want to go to a gig to listen to that. Most clubs tend to be that awkward volume where it's not loud enough to dance but too loud to talk so you end up just standing around or shouting in people's faces. I know I sound like an old lady but I'm ok with that.

Uma Coisa Incrível que Eu Fiz

Sleeping on the roof of a small hotel in India with a group of fellow travellers and the hotel owner himself. We had a fire up there and some whisk(e)y. The hotel owner couldn't pronounce my name, so he called me Beanie. He also practically forced us all to sing songs for him. It was classic.

Ensine, Aprenda, Compartilhe

Love learning new things and exchanging stories with people from different backgrounds.
