Overview
About Me
Hey there! I’m Vi, a professional chatterbox, part-time dog whisperer, and full-time adventurer. Born and raised in Germany with vietnamese roots, I somehow ended up in Taiwan, currently volunteering at a dog shelter (yes, I get paid in tail wags and slobbery kisses) (I‘m not in Taiwan anymore, but I like the tail wags and slobbery kisses reference hehe)
I have a background in Social Work, which means I love meeting new people, having deep (or totally random) conversations, and accidentally becoming everyone’s free therapist. I thrive on cultural exchange, spontaneous adventures, and trying to read Vietnamese menus with great confusion and determination.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
Because hotels are boring, and I’d rather share stories, laughs, and possibly questionable vegetarian cooking with real people. I believe travel is all about human connection—plus, locals always know the best hidden gems (and where to find the cheapest and best food :P).
Interests
- Languages & Cultures: I speak 4,5 languages fluently and am currently wrestling with Spanish and Turkish (send help).
- Animals: Dogs love me. Cats tolerate me. I’m working on it.
- Vegetarian Cooking: 10 years meat-free and still going strong! Let me cook for you—I promise it won’t be just salad.
- Travel & Adventure: Costa Rica and Brazil are my dream destination, but honestly, I’ll go anywhere as long as there’s good company and great food.

Music, Movies, and Books
According to my spotify wrapped, my top 3 songs are:
1) Paint the town red - Doja Cat
2) Million Dollar Baby - Tommy Richman
3) Never lose me - Flo Milli
Some may say, I‘m into tiktok songs. I say: those 3 are banger.
I‘m a huge bookworm and currently I‘m reading „Silent Patient“ by Alex Michaelides (Update: I finished the book and it was sooo good)
One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
When I was in South Korea, volunteering in a language café, I met one of my now best friends Alex through the app Tripbff (you should try this app too!!). One night, I went out with Alex and another co-worker to sing karaoke. On the CCTV, we saw a korean singing alone in his booth (which is very normal in Korea, mind you). We thought, it would be funny to knock on his door and ask him if he wants to join us. The night became super funny and we invited him to the language café‘s christmas party the next day. There he met one of our co-worker from China and they became a couple. He even already visited her in China. How cute is that?!?
What I Can Share with Hosts
- Language exchange (I’ll teach you some German, English, French, Vietnamese and Italien, but no guarantees on the usefulness of the phrases).
- A delicious homemade vegetarian meal (or at least an entertaining attempt).
- Travel tips, bad jokes, and infinite curiosity.
