About Me

hi, my name is vicki. i am a korean american who grew up in a small town called kennett square, also known as the mushroom capital of the world. ive been living in philadelphia for about three years now, but grew up just outside the city so philadelphia is home to me.

i have a tendency to struggle with finding a balance between idealism and realism, all i know is that i want to make something beautiful.

im can be a little shy at first, especially with large crowds of people, but once you get to know me it's all good :)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

in 2014 i decided to leave the states and the stresses of academic life and live in kigali, rwanda. for that year, i taught at an international school and i knew i wanted to explore more cultures and people before returning to the states.

that is how i first started, but my experiences being hosted made me fall in love with the community and what it stood for, which is why i am still a part of this community today. i love meeting people, and learning about their culture, how they grew up personally, and what their life is like. when hosting, i like to still consider my self a traveler, but within the comforts of my home. :P hopefully, soon enough i will be able to experience the places that were described to me.

Interests

i feel like this ones hard to answer..

um... i have many interests but off the top of my hear i would say playing tennis, carpentry, open mic nights, playing the piano, learning different languages, meeting new people, and trying new things.

Music, Movies, and Books

i am really all over the place when it comes to my taste in music. i can listen to oldies jazz (1930's-1940's) any time of the year. i love post-modern jukebox, and all their renditions of modern pop songs. I have recently been into coast modern and wet. i think i will always love the older coldplay albums. and when i listen to muse i feel as though i can do anything!
