About Me

Hi Everybody!

My name is Mónika, and I am master student in the field of geology. Traveling is my passion: doesn't matter if it is on bike, boat, car, plane, foot, hotel, tent, outdoor.. ahh, just go, know new people, and spent a nice time together in nice places.
Up to now, I mainly travelled in Europe, but my dreams and plans doesn't have limits.
I don't bring pets and don't smoke.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I had never tried coachsurfing before when I decided to do it, because I had a crazy plan. I finished my Erasmus period in Leuven at the end of July of 2017, and I wanted to ride my bike home, to Hungary. I had already took part in long group bike-tours before, but this was the longest all of them (and I did it alone).
I cycled home through 3 countries and more than 1300km! And I tried the coachsurfing on the way. Through this adventure I got some of the most positive experiences in my life. I had new hosts every day, got to knew them and their stories, and they gave me so much kindness, love and... also food. :P I enjoyed it soo much, so I gonna continue this kind of traveling, and I would like to host sourfers also on my couch! :)

Music, Movies, and Books

Love every types of music. Also love dancing: I do traditional hungarian folkdance and salsa.
Books: Eragon, Miss Peregrins Home for Peculiar Children, lot of Hungarian books like Iskola a határon...
I also love the the How I met your mother and The Big Bang Theory...
Science fiction movies are also close to my heart, as well as Disneys :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Maybe it is not really amazing, but I always get surprised, how people behave themselfs in unexpected situations. The most surprising for me is how I behave...
It was once in Belgium that 3 guys of my age tried to steal my bag. I was travelling on the train, and they walked by my seat. I was looking out on the window, so I just realized a few minutes ago that my bag didn't lie next to me on the seat anymore. I know immediatelly that tha guys took it - they weren't likeable for me from the beginning of the journey. Fortunatelly the train was still moving, but we were arriving into a station, so I didn't have too much time for action. I went after them. They were standing at the door waiting for opening. I was shouting on them many times, but they were just standing waiting for the door. So i grab the arm of one, and shouting again and again.. After some people from the train was coming closer, so the decided to give me back my bag, without my wallet. But after some more shouting they also gave back the wallet, and when the train stopped, they walked away.
When I got off the train, my legs were shaking, I was almost crying after the shock went away... But I did it!
All of my important stuffs, my money, my identity card, bank card and everything was in that bag, and i was in a foreign country alone, surrounded by people, who don't really speak English.. So now, looking back, I am very poud of me, becaus this was all in all maybe 30 seconds. It was really a surprise, how i behaved in this stress situation, how fast i realized my only chance.
Of course my story would be more amazing if it would happened in a Middle East country, and the guys would be kidnappers.. :D But for me, it was the beginning of something (maybe something wrong, because after this, i can not really trust in people just passing by, next to my bag..).
