About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Help promote ocean conservation and to share the amazing knowledge I've learned about our oceans and especially my first love, sharks!

ABOUT ME

I am currently in graduate school so my time is pretty variable and there's a lot of days where the workload seems endless. The upside is that my free days can often fall mid-week. This makes trip to the beach or just wandering the city a little nicer since everyone else is at work :o)

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

I learned about couch surfing while traveling through Europe during the summer of 2006. It ended up being one of the best parts of our trip. I had a joint account with my friend called Erin-Vicky or maybe it was Vicky-Erin, but the page is no more. I met a lot of great people thanks to couch surfing and when I came back home I wasn't able to hold couch surfers but I told my friends about the experience and many of them joined and hosted lots of cool people!

Interests

I like photography, wildlife, exploring and some drinks at a really cool bar or somewhere great is not such a bad thing :)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I know it says one but... My Top 5 (now Top 6- 6 was the best)
6. The Best thing I've ever done is spend two months in Mossel Bay, South Africa studying white shark!!! My life goal is to make this my career.
5. Taking pictures in Los Llanos in Venezuela and getting my absolute fill on wildlife and even getting to see an ocelot!
4. SCUBA diving in Fiji then drinking kava with dinner, their traditional (and illegal elsewhere) drink.
3. Fourth of July in Ocean Beach, San Diego. I watched the fireworks close up while hanging off a surfboard and floating in warm water. After the fireworks began the traditional marshmallow fights on the beach... when else do you get to throw things at little kids and have it be perfectly ok, haha.
2. Five day fishing trip to the surrounding waters of Guadalupe Island in Mexico where I fished for tuna but I got to see white sharks eating our catch.
1. I slept in a park in Pamplona with a bunch of other couchsurfers (my first couchsurfing-related experience!)and I got to experience the San Fermin Festival (a.k.a. The Running of the Bulls)!

Teach, Learn, Share

I know Spanish and English and a thing or two about animals so if anybody wants a brush up on a language or a little feel of the discovery channel... I could in theory anyways, teach/share that. I love learning even more about animals, nature and whatever.

Countries I’ve Visited
