About Me

CURRENT MISSION

I’m part way through a year long journey through South America with my boyfriend Fabio. Beginning in Argentina, we plan to weave our way up through the Andes countries towards Colombia. The mission is to see and experience as many things on the way...

ABOUT ME

Wow- how do you summarise “all about you” into a paragraph? Not quite sure. I suppose I’m an outgoing, friendly person who enjoys the company of other people and a lovely conversation. I love to travel and learn and am not very good at spending time not doing anything …

Education is my passion, and I have been teaching for a few years now. I recently finished a Masters in Education and International Development and I’m incredibly interested in education policy in different countries… how it works, what works well, what doesn’t work and how it can be improved… I’m interested in trying to reach those people who don’t have access to a quality education and would love to work for an NGO one day…

I love languages and the great puzzle that is learning a new one… figuring out the way that words fit together in different idioms and opening the door to further experiences…

I suppose I’m quite an arty person, and enjoy sketching and taking photographs, and would love to one day illustrate a children’s book…

PHILOSOPHY

It’s quite difficult to write this section without creating some sort of cliché… live like there’s no tomorrow, love like you’ve never been hurt and dance like nobody’s watching? Maybe… I guess my personal philosophy is just to seize the day… My mother died around 7 years ago and it made me realize how short life is… I would like to squeeze every drop out of life, so that nothing is wasted.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

Through couch surfing, I hope to be able to travel South America whilst meeting interesting people along the way. I don’t want to just show up at a new place, take some pictures of the points of interest and say I’ve “done” it. I want to try to experience places as I travel, through the people I meet and connections I make. Equally, I would love to share some of my experiences with the people I stay with.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Although I’m new to Couch Surfing, I like to think I have some experience hosting and staying on other people’s couches. My home in London was a bit of a couch surfing location as well. Living with 7 people under one roof, people were always inviting friends to stay the night and always there was someone interesting dozing on the couch in the morning. It was a great way to get to know friends of friends and chatting over a cup of tea or having a lovely shared breakfast was often the beginning of a lovely day.

Interests

Anything new and interesting! To add to that, I love food, and the experience of cooking and eating with friends over a glass of wine; I enjoy travelling, seeing new things and learning about different cultures and languages. I enjoy seeing and making art, taking photographs, climbing mountains, watching movies…

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I lived for a year in Thailand, teaching English at a primary school, and managed to see and do some incredible things there. Riding on the backs of elephants, kayaking in lagoons where monkeys jump onto your vessel, and experiencing the amazing water festival wonder that is Songkran in Chiang Mai are certainly at the top of the list.

Teach, Learn, Share

I’m not sure I’ve got a wealth of knowledge to impart on people but I suppose the things I could teach might include any languages I speak- English, French, Dutch.. and perhaps the art of teaching. Sometimes I like to pretend I know something about photography although I realise I have something to learn in that regard too. I would also love to learn and practice my Spanish (I’m getting very excited about learning it each day I am here…), and would love to learn any new and strange customs of foreign lands…
