Hey!

I am a 20 years old guy from Québec city in Canada so I speak french as my first language. Over the couple last years I've travelled quite a lot around the states and canada in a couple of trips that made me grow up a lot. Up to now the biggest trip I did was a student exchange in Guadalajara in Mexico for two months in 2012. That trip shook me up a lot and made me come out of my shell for good. I used to be a shy introvert but I have since learned to accept who I am so that I am really confident in talking to anybody and making friends. I like learning about others and having great open heart discussions, I'm a great listener.

I studied litterature and arts at the Cegep de Ste-Foy and I'm still not sure where and in what to apply for university next year so I'm taking a break from school for some time to travel Europe with two of my best friends.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I will be travelling with two of my best friends around Europe from mars until mid summer. I heard about couchsurfing from a friend who went on a trip similar to the one I plan. He had a really great experience and so many stories to tell I was intrigued. A free place to stay with locals sounds like the best way to really get the vibe of a city and that's what I really plan to do tough I understand the ethic of couchsurfing and that it's more than that. I plan on really investing myself in this exchange of culture for my first time couchsurfing while travelling.

Interests

I'm a big music fan. I play guitar and can talk endlessly about my favorite bands, music gear or the music industry. I have also developed in recent years an interest in fashion and clothing. I like to check new collections and to go thrift shopping a lot. Design and arts also interest me. Museums are one of my favorite place to be.

Appart from that I really like having open discussions on philosophy and general existential questions.
I as well like partying and clubbing, rock climbing, visiting museums, wandering in a new city, going to music shows or movies, old bookstores, vintage stuff and meditating.

Music, Movies, and Books

I like poetic films from big directors such as Paul Thomas Anderson, the Cohen Brothers, Richard Linklater, Wes Anderson, Jean-Marc Vallée and Terrence Malick.
My favorite movie is probably Boyhood.

As for music, I'm into a lot of stuff. My favorite bands are Boards of Canada, Radiohead, Swans, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, Aphex Twin, Neil Young, Animal Collective, My Bloody Valentine, Sonic Youth, Björk and other stuff from the 90's but I also like the new wave of rap artist from the last couple of years (Lil Ugly Mane, Danny Brown, Death Grips).

I like reading art books and biographies, but also classics.
My favorite book is L'écume des jours by Boris Vian.
