My heart goes boom-boom-boom as I prepare for Natal, Recife, and the Amazon. And where to next? Angola... maybe Mozambique? I'll be starting my new life in Brazil. For a long time, my heart has searched for a home... from the mountains of Colorado to the inner city of Los Angeles, yet nothing has captivated my curiosity more than the sands of Rio de Janeiro. Like a vagabond, I may find myself in a gutter, a bed of riches or perhaps exploring the forests of Acre. After backpacking 15 km through the Amazon rainforest... I came across an Indian Village. The village belonged to a Tupi tribe (ethnic group of Dessanos and Tucanos) and I managed to speak Portuguese with the tribe's Shaman. Following the discussion, I found myself entering a hut, locking arms, and participating in a ritual dance. It was one of the most majestic experiences of my life. The indigenous people of the Amazon are so beautiful.
