About Me
CURRENT MISSION
to say yes to all oppurtunities
ABOUT ME
Quite relaxed. Very enthusiastic and open minded. I love cooking or reading with a good glass of whiskey . I just moved to Kampala from Johannesburg and keen to meet up with others who want to explore Uganda.
On weekends I like to go running/for a hike, visit a park (dog park preferably), host drinks at my house, play board games, go climbing, do some yoga or pottery and see the world!
PHILOSOPHY
Statistically, my life has worked out so far, so I have every confidence that the rest of it will be fantastic. The same theory goes for being immortal.
MY HOUSE
I have an apartment with a spare bedroom.
Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
I'm really keen to meet like minded people and host friendly travelers who are keen to share their experiences (i.e. I'm not a couch, I want to be a friend). A two liner asking if I can host you will get you a quick 'no'. It's easier for me to host one person at a time so if you are coming as a pair, try extra hard in your message!
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
Stayed with a couple of hosts in Norway and I absolutely loved it. Made me realise the difference between seeing a country through a traveler's eyes and a local's eyes. I hosted extensively while I lived in Cape Town and Joburg I hope I can offer this to couch surfers here in Kampala too. So far I've been hosting for about ten years and each new traveler opens my mind and eyes a little bit more- love it!
Interests
Running, hiking, climbing, yoga - most exercises really. I enjoy reading and coffee. I'm into design and good literature. my weeks are mostly filled with working, but my weekends involve running, going to markets, concerts and meeting up with friends

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I once held my breath for 55 seconds.
But on a serious note, I did a 21 day hike across the Drakensburg Mountains through rain, snow and fire. Carrying our food, tents and clothes all on our back and no GPS or cellphones. Life changing!
A few years ago, my partner and I took 3 months off and travelled through Central America. We loved Mexico and Northern Peru best, and will be taking another 3 months off in a few years to do a road trip through Africa.
During covid we road tripped for a year along South Africa's coastline and worked remotely, moving every month or so. We took our two very old dogs with us.
Teach, Learn, Share
I also want to do sightseeing, and explore the night life and the culture in jhb, having couch surfers forces me to try new things. I'm very outgoing
What I Can Share with Hosts
Cooking! I love it and I'm great at it ( evidently, humility is still something I'm working on). I know a lot of recipes, traditional south african and not- specializing in puddings (yes you read right, PUDDINGS)- so I would love to cook for my hosts
Activities! I find that I enjoy my weekends more when I'm showing couch surfers around- hopefully you are the same
Drinking buddy! I lived in Cape Town for four years, one of the wine producing capitals of the world. Thus I have taken it upon myself as a personal duty to develop a strong affinity for wine and anything remotely alcoholic.
Joke teller! Ok I'm not good at delivering punchlines but I do seem to make a fool of myself regularly which I am told is entertaining
