About Me

It was always difficult to write "about me". I'm Vicky, I'm from Argentina. I moved to El Calafate in June 2017, after visiting the town several times (both the Perito Moreno glacier and the Condor Andino captivated me)

In my professional life, I've worked in Finance for 10 years, and now I'm working as a photographer, I'm starting designing web pages.

I love spending time making photos and travelling. I rather mountains than beaches, but from time to time, a little bit of sand is good for the soul.

I happily live with my partner in life, Agustin, whom I've met more than 12 years ago. Our current mission... that's easy: "Live the life to the fullest".

Philosophy: I’d rather have a life filled with “oh well's” than a life filled with “what if's”.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I love travelling, visiting new places and knowing the local culture. I think CS is the best way to experience new cultures.

Interests

I love Photography. Everytime I can, I mix Photography with Music, Theatre and Travel. That is the best equation ever.

I cannot start my day if I don't have my Mate

I enjoy cooking for friends... I think it's a beautiful way to share a good meal and show you care.

Music, Movies, and Books

- Music: I love Sui Generis (Charly García and Nito Mestre), Rolling Stones, Queen... I love music in general (except for electronic)
- Books: Every book written by Isabel Allende (specially "Retrato en Sepia") and Adventure books.
My partner just published "Cumbre Interior", a book about personal growth through mountaineering and climbing the Cerro Aconcagua.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Changing my life upside down. I quit my 9hs office job to start working as a freelance photographer, moved to El Calafate and started working part time in a hotel, and now in a tourism receptive office.

I've been in Calafate (Patagonia, Argentina) 5 times before moving here. The Glaciar Perito Moreno fall is the most amazing natural event I've ever seen... last time (March 2016) I ran to the airport as soon as I knew the glacier was filtering, I wanted to see the big bridge fall down. Unfortunately, I arrived to the place 10 minutes after the big crush (Yes, 10 minutes, I didn't mistyped). It only gives me will to continue visiting the colossal natural wonder.

I've been in Puerto Lopez (Ecuador) and I've seen whales around the boat I was in... I saw a whale jumping right next to our boat and that was really amazing!!

Teach, Learn, Share

I'm always ready to teach how to make a good Mate, or an Argentinean meal.

I'm really good with Microsoft Excel and I love it (yeah, I'm kind of a geek), I'm always willing to teach how to use the tool.

I'm always ready to learn something new, share experiences and learn from other's experiences.

As a photographer I love sharing and learning experiences and techniques

What I Can Share with Hosts

If there is anything I can help with, I'll be glad to do it.

I can definitely cook, Agus can help fixing anything at the house.
