About Me

CURRENT MISSION

explore the world! meet new people and get the experience of traveling on my own

ABOUT ME

First of all, I can say that I'm extremely communicative and always glad to meet new people. I belive I am a good interlocutor AND a far better listener. Long night talks with my nearest and dearest (by phone or behind the bar - doesn't matter) is what makes me feel alive in this hectic world.

Second, I am a REAL cinemaholic and belive that tastes in movies can say a lot about anyone's personality. So, as for me, my favourite directors are Quentin Tarantino, Martin Scorsese, Stanley Kubrick, David Fincher, Woody Allen and David Lynch. Speaking of movies, I will never cease to admire the originality of "Pulp Fiction", the unpredictability of "the Game", the greatness of "Casino", the mysteriousness of "Mulholland Dr.", the mightiness of "Gran Torino" and the sensuality of "Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind" (such masterpieces as "Forrest Gump", "the Green Mile", "Scent of a Woman", "Scarface" and "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest" do not need to be mentioned).

Music is also the thing that definitely characterises the person, so I find it necessary to say a couple of words about the artists I adore. First of all, I am a huge fan of Bob Dylan - his songs always calm me down. The Doors are also on the list - their songs are made for loving, thinking, dreaming and just feeling. Tom Waits should be mentioned as well - there's nothing like a night's hour spent with his velvet voice that immerses you in the atmosphere of smoky bars. Frank Sinatra can't be omitted either. Such masterworks as "Strangers in the Night" and "What a Wonderful World" fill me with a sense of delight and harmony every time I listen to them. To finish with couple of words about my personality, I can add that I am a good friend - I will never betray or leave my friend in the moments of sorrow and grief.
I am that kind of person that never gives up - finding silver lining is my profession.
And what more - I'm just funny, as silly as it sounds. Laugh is what makes me feel real and gives me strength.

PHILOSOPHY

Never give up and always do your best.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

As I live with my parents, hosting is not available for me. So for now, my participation is only as a surfer - ready to explore cities and towns from the inhabitant's perspective and be a good and conscious guest.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

Two awesome weeks in Paris during summer'14 as my first and experience back then. Absolutely mindblowing - I was travelling on my own for the first time in my life and never felt THAT comfortable in a new city - thanks to the guys who hosted me then.

Also travelled to Austria and Germany with my friend in 2015 and got to know many great guys thanks to CS. Wonderful experience!

Music, Movies, and Books

I have already mentioned some of my favourite pieces in cinematography and some of my favourite artists in music.
As for literature, my favourite writers are Dostoevsky ("Idiot"), Orwell ("1984"), Hemingway ("The Sun Also Rises", "For Whom the Bell Tolls"), Bradbury ("Fahrenheit 451"). Stephen King ("Under the Dome", "Shining"), John Green ("Looking for Alaska"), London ("Love of Life"), Foer ("Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close").

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Seen - Grand Canyon
Done - travelled with a friend all around the USA for a month and a half
Done - went on a 10-day hiking trip in the mountains of Abkhazia. Climbed up on the mountain 2600 meters high above the sea level (clouds were beneath us!)

Teach, Learn, Share

From me:
- good pieces of advice in cinematography
- cooking lovely pies
- basics in Russian - if someone wants to learn this rather difficult language!

What I wish to learn/know more about:
- languages! At least useful phrases (swearing included!) in as many as possible
- playing the guitar - all my attempts on my own failed :(
- playing other musical instruments (ukulele is my dream)

What I Can Share with Hosts
