About Me

I'm several years in to a slow migration from North America to Europe. I started in Seattle, lived in Canada, then Austria, France... and now begin a PhD at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, in sustainable aquaponics developement.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

I first discovered couchsurfing while travelling, and primarily use it for that. Since then I have often hosted people, if possible given where I'm living. I like how easy it is to make friends in the community, and learn new things about people and places.

Interests

My life and work is very science-focused in the sense that I feel it brings a healthy scrutiny and logic into focus when approaching life's mysteries and trials. There's a sort of misconception that science is the antithesis to art, I think this is exactly the opposite of reality. They both simply try to describe reality. That line of reasoning influences me a lot - I try to bring to light the beauty of the world through the work I do, and likewise actively appreciate that beauty in my life personally, as well as by reading, hearing, and seeing how others appreciate it.

Music, Movies, and Books

A little bit all over the place in terms of music.
I often feel pretty ignorant in terms of film, it's a subject which comes up often in discussion and usually leaves me with a few more recommendations noted down. Yet somehow I can never stay ahead of the curve :)
Regarding books, I try to read a lot and often. A recent feat has been getting through Monte Cristo. I currently am reading Amerika by Kafka, and Marcus Aurelius' Meditations.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

I try to travel when possible, with the meager funds usually available to me. Thus many bike trips, for example from Vienna to Paris (20 days!) :)

Teach, Learn, Share

I will happily share what I know, and listen to you when you have something to say.

What I Can Share with Hosts

I can offer my apartment, my knowledge of the city, and my time :)

Countries I’ve Visited

Belgium, Croatia, Czech Republic, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Poland, Russian Federation, Slovenia, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom

Countries I’ve Lived In
