About Me

A little inquisitiveness, more of optimism.
A little dance, more of travel.
A little fun, more of life.

I'm a business consultant working with startups in Delhi. Earlier, I had my stint with wildlife photography. Before that, I used to be a professional dancer. Well, the degree says masters in computer sciences though. :-)

I am a crazy optimistic mammal who thinks everything is possible. Being raised by a physically handicapped (deaf/mute) single mother, I have seen the hardest of the times go by. And now, after all the craziness, I have learnt one thing "Respect".
Respect individuals. Respect animals. Respect humanity. Respect space. Respect time (I do get late sometimes, but I seriously try not to). Respect parents.

This way, I am able to give twice as much of what I get. And that's why, I always try to find happiness in the smallest of the things in life. That made me ignore quite a few bigger and important ones, I guess money it was :D. Learning my ways to get it rightly balanced.

The one thing I now want to do, and actually gearing up for that, is to travel the world and live life to the fullest.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Whenever I travel, I would want to talk to locals and know more about the place I am traveling to. I make it a point that I stay at someone's house who reside in that place ; mostly friends till now since I haven't been able to surf much :/ .
When you stay with someone, the entire experience is different. I experienced freshness, smiling faces and a welcoming aura. Through that, I actually lived at those places by being a part of everyday lives of my hosts.

Interests

Conceptualisation and implementation of different ideas,
Dancing,
Clicking moments,
Exploring different genres of music,
Stay up to date with the technological advancements,
Read about history and culture of different places,
and yes, meeting new people and having great conversations.

Music, Movies, and Books

Movies : anything and everything that hits either my mind or the heart.
clockwork orange, taxi driver, life is beautiful, beautiful mind, pulp fiction, the great escape, inception, space odyssey, interstellar, marley & me, divergent, remember the titans, eternal sunshine of the spotless mind, defiance, amelie, sleepless in seattle, queen, girl in yellow boots, lagaan...

Shows : Game of thrones, Breaking Bad, Friends, Dexter, Simpsons, travel / wildlife / scientific documentaries...

Music : From grunge to sufi, death metal to oldies, hindi to french, soft to not-so-soft and from breakbeats to post rock. Love the original soundtracks of a lot of movies as well.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

-- Stayed in sub zero temperatures for a few nights just to get one shot of a leopard.
-- Danced continuously for more than 6 hours a day after work, and continued that for a month, to get that one stage act right.
-- Trekked to Naga Tibba (Uttrakhand, India) when I don't have enough resources to survive the whole of it.

Teach, Learn, Share

TEACH

- Chhau, a semi-classical Indian dance form
- Yoga
- Mathematics (obviously not many would even like to discuss that :P)
- Hindi (and a few swears in the language to help you cope up with bad experiences while traveling in India :D)
- Sign language (thanks to my mother)
- A bit of Indian cooking (am not a chef, but still none of my friends has thrown up yet :P)

LEARN

- The one thing I love doing is to learn a bit of the local language
- Being a dancer in the past, a few moves from the regional dance forms would be so exciting
- Cooking!!
- I didn't have a huge interest in history, but now, knowing about the history of places takes a few hours of mine every week

What I Can Share with Hosts

- Indian travel itineraries
- Local info (Indian cities / towns)
- Indian spicy cuisine
- Travel experiences and stories
- A souvenir to remember me :)
- And yes, a warm and friendly atmosphere.
