ABOUT ME

I am from Williamsburg, Brooklyn, NYC. My parents emigrated to NYC in the 80s from El Salvador and I'm very proud of my Latina roots. I love NYC with all my heart. I love meeting new people and showing them around all the sites.

I'm passionate about education issues and my job is helping low-income city youth make into the college of their dreams and graduate.

I love food (I'm a vegetarian) and I love exploring NYC. I travel to learn more about the culture and community of cities.

Dlaczego jestem na Couchsurfing

I first heard of Couchsurfing from my friend's parents. They turned his old bedroom into a guest room and would host couchsurfers. Then my ex-boyfriend told me great stories about his experiences in Europe about it. Finally two of my girlfriends convinced me to join and here I am.

I want to meet great people who would love to explore any of the places I travel to and teach me about the local life. I'm a huge history buff so I want to get a real feel about a place when I visit. I want to go to national monuments and museums as well as local cultural centers like art cafes.

I love just to hang out with my friends. I explore all sorts of things: museums, parks, concerts, bars, interesting bar crawls like Santacon or beer tastings, restaurants, movies, plays, spoken word, botanical gardens, watch tv shows being filmed, walking at the beach to see sunrises and sunsets, light shows, hunt for street art, road trips, playing with dogs at dog parks, volunteering (my favorite is to walk dogs from the shelter), sorority events, etc. I'm a big fan of low cost or free things to do.

Muzyka, filmy i książki

Currently I'm obsessed with old hip hop so alot of Biggie has been playing on my ipod. I do like pop music as 7/11 always gets me dancing around my room, but I also love music where you can really feel the emotions through the instruments. I learned a little guitar and piano in high school and really appreciate songs like The Beatles' While My Guitar Gently Weeps where you can really feel the guitar crying.

I'm not big on movies but I'm big on tv shows. I was obsessed with How I Met Your Mother. Currently I just watched Gilmore Girls and Boys Meets World through and I'm on Friends.

I majored in economics so I have a huge thing for books about econ like Freakonomics, but I'm big on writing. I have a journal I carry everywhere so I can write whenever inspiration strikes.

Jedna niesamowita rzecz, którą zrobiłem(-am)

I did an internship in Antigua Guatemala, Guatemala for 6 weeks during Lent and the Holy week in the Spring of 2012. It was an amazing experience to be there during that celebratory period.

It was also amazing to help so many women, children and families get their stories out to the world about the things that were/are happening in Mexico, Guatemala and Honduras.

I can share my experience about living in NYC my whole life, living briefly in LA and traveling through the US as well as Mexico and Central America.

I'm also willing to help you practice your English and teach you Spanish.
