We moved to the other side of the world to NZ from the UK in October 2016 and we are on a mission to settle and enjoy. Going great so far.

ABOUT ME

VIK - Might have to read my obituary to find out - isn't our identity created by others and I am resistant to define myself lest I have to hold on to it and then can not change!

SHARON - Vik is chilled, nothing stresses him and he likes the simple things in life.

Currently a stay at home mum, keeping busy planning a home renovation and various other projects whilst trying to do a good job bringing the children up to be confident, happy, educated, creative, inspired, motivated beings - its not the easiest job I have ever done but its my current mission.

We have four children - Liam (1996), Euan (1998), Ella (2005) and Jake (2010) and a spoodle puppy called Meggy

Sharon - Everything happens for a reason, grasp opportunities with both hands. I am often teased for having lots of ideas - but - I would rather have lots of ideas and work through/do a small percentage of them rather than have no ideas and do nothing with my life and be too afraid to move out of my comfort zone.

We have hosted.......No complaints so far - just very kind positive feedback and have met fantastic people that are now friends.

Interests

VIK - The immense creativity expressed all around us - in people and nature. In all this movement and chaos of daily life I am curious to know about stillness and peace.

SHARON - Given more time I would get a powerboat licence, join a flotilla holiday, learn French, read, grow more vegetables, bake bread and cakes, make jam, chutney and wine, set up a sewing school/haberdashery, make use of the many fabrics I have collected, ice skate and travel around Europe visiting chocolate shops... oh and learn to fly a helicopter.

VIK - Movies - Contact, Kiterunner, Avatar, Gandhi, Warhorse, Flash Gordon (my first cinema experience!!)

SHARON - Little Women, Ann of Green Gables, Chocolat (the movie) - in fact anything that remotely involves chocolate.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

Vik - Jumped out of a plane - and screamed for the next 2-3 minutes...it was a tandem jump and has not repeated it since - a bit like marmite and took a dislike to it after 2 seconds!!
Another amazing moment was watching the setting sun in the himalayas with the clouds below us and above us with all the reflections, snow....after a whole day of trekking above 14000 feet...
And our kids continue to amaze us every day...it ranges from huffs and puffs to spontaneous hugs.

Teach, Learn, Share

We can share our warm house, home cooked food, stroppy children, loving children, our experiences and our time with you. If there is anything else you can think of when you arrive here then let us know.

We are open to anything people want to teach us or our children (within reason!!) BUT if you want to cook something that we cannot cook and teach us - we are always up for that. One CS guest recently taught us to make an awesome cous cous recipe....was great. They introduced us to German bread, Quark and red wine chocolate cake also.
