About Me

I'm a translator and musician from Moscow. Love learning languages, love European Cinema, love creating and listening to music. Love to travel and get to know other cultures. Sometimes said to be a nice and intelligent person, which is just a pathetic lie of course.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

Even though I'm quite young, I've travelled a lot, and at some point I realized very clearly that staying at a hotel is just not the way to really experience what the life's like at a certain place. I hate being a tourist, I want to be someone, but not a ridiculously-looking guy with a camera staring at everything like in a maze. There's nothing bad to it though, it's just that when I come at a place, I want to feel I belong there. That's why I admire couchsurfing a lot.

Interests

There are many things that really catch my interest, but mainly it has to do with music and cinema. I play the piano, guitar, and some other instruments (was only trained to play the piano though), now participating in some kind of a musical project. I also listen to music pretty much all the time, always trying to find something new. As for cinema, for some reason I've always been fond of it and now I'm mostly into the European Cinema, where my favourites are Kusturica, Haneke, Dardennes and some others.

Music, Movies, and Books

It's hard to tell, as I listen to so much various stuff you can't join them in one. I could probably just name out some: Vinicius de Moraes, Massive Attack, Franz Ferdinand, Rachamaninoff, Cesaria Evora, La Femme. A crazy mixture, here it is.

Movies, I've named some directors already, let's say I love all their work. I also praise those: Jeune & jolie, A Single Man, Kynodontas, Jagten, Jodaeiye Nader az Simin (and many others)

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

It's kind of awkward and I don't know if it's any amazing, but here's what happened. It was a dreary early spring night. I was going back home on a lonely Moscow underground train. I was carrying my accordion with me and suddenly it came to my mind it would be nice to play it a little bit. I was a bit nervous, I'd never done such thing before, but I took all my courage and soon the accordion was on bind to my shoulders. I started to play some Spanish songs I knew, and pretty much unexpectedly people seemed to enjoy having me. Not only they enjoyed my music, but they also started reaching me pocket money they had. I only played for about 15 minutes, but the sum I collected was more than 1000 roubles (about 20 bucks, but it's a lot for Moscow trust me). I was kind of amazed with what just had happened and couldn't really realize it completely. Only thing I knew was that I was not gonna spend this money to my advantage. The next day I went to school with a massive and beautiful bouquet of tulips and secretly delivered it to one of the teachers i liked very much. Boy, were there rumours about this bouquet. She still doesn't know who it was.
