Why I’m on Couchsurfing
HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING
Nowadays, I mostly host home dinners for the Oslo couch surfing home dinner group. It has been a great experience to meet up with a lot of nice people over dinner. I might host, but not as often as I get requests, so I try to prioritize people with similar interests and people who host a lot themselves.
I have been living in peoples homes, not only in sofas but also in hammocks in places where sofas were not found, in several countries - this commitment to couch surfing is because of Ana from Orosi in Costa Rica and her lovely family, to Luis' and his great family in Venezuela and to the family in Deda, Romania who have opened their homes to us and shown incredible kindness and generosity. If someone wants to come and sleep on my sofa I would be delighted to finally be able to be the one that can show some hospitality. We have hosted couch surfers from Brazil, USA, Russia, Hongkong, Poland, Ireland, Switzerland-Canada and Germany and had really nice experiences. We are happy to host people for two or three days or maybe up to a week if we enjoy hanging out together but we have no possibility to host people for extensive periods of time.
We do NOT rent our place. I do only accept personal couch requests from people that may actually have an interest in meeting and sharing culture rather than just need a place to stay.
COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE
We have had a wonderful couch surfing experience when we travelled in Armenia 2008 and climbed a volcano with our hosts. The summer 2009 we have been couch surfing in Bulgaria and met great people too. Couch surfing also introduced me and Jessica to the great night life of Reykavik, Iceland in 2009 and made us both eager to go back there. I have also met many nice and interesting couch surfers during my short research stay in the New Brunswick/NYC area in 2010 and during my time at Harvard during the autumn 2012.
We have hosted people from USA, Russia, Hongkong, Germany, Ireland, Poland, Switzerland, Canada, Brazil, Spain, Argentina, and Peru at our place and had a great time.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done
I could say diving with dolphins or walking into Cheops pyramide, but I've had a child and I'm learning to know him. Sorry, but there are no comparisons.
Teach, Learn, Share
I'd love to share my passion for evolutionary ecology, lizards, gender equality, and maybe some Swedish culture.
