About Me

CURRENT MISSION

Live life to the fullest before I'm to old and grouchy.

ABOUT ME

I'm a nice guy who's got a lot going on. Currently I'm studying Work and organizational psychology at the University in Bergen, and I'm elected to public office for the liberal party in the neighbouring town of Stord. But I spend most my time in Bergen.

If my best friends were to answer this they would make me sound weird, but that would be their perspective.. I'm not weird! I'm just alternative, but a very hospitable and kind guy who loves to vary things up from time to time. If this was a job interview I'd know exactly what to answer, but if there's anything you'd like to know just ask away.

PHILOSOPHY

You shall not harrass other,
you shall be nice and kind,
besides that, you can do what you want.

Why I’m on Couchsurfing

HOW I PARTICIPATE IN COUCHSURFING

I'm offering my couch to people who needs it, as far as possible from my side.

COUCHSURFING EXPERIENCE

None directly with the service, but I have friends who've done it and that's why I wanted to try. I've had people sleep on my couch, though.

Interests

I love politics and science. When I'm working with my political stuff I get really lost in time, because it's so exciting being a part, and not just being some outsider who "can't" affect anything. I get to do good deeds for the young and old.

I also love music, movies and games like anybody else, but outdoor games. Those still refresh my memories of being a toddler. Even just outdoor playing football and such. Or walking in the nature just admiring the beauty of nature. Don't get to do that to much in a city though, but this city has some amazing nature surrounding it.

Music, Movies, and Books

Alain de Botton - the art of travel.
rock music, classic rock music like Slade, Wishbone Ash, Genesis.
I'm very accepting of movies, as long as they make my mind wonder and give me some immersion, I can watch any genre.

One Amazing Thing I’ve Done

The first time I started working at a school in the slum in Ecuador. I was an english teacher (after some initial training.) I was playing football with some kids, probably 5-6 years of age and they were desperate for food, so I always just ended up giving them my lunch. I bought like 10 bananas for a dollar, so it was alright. Well one time one of the kids fell over and hurt himself a little bit, so I go over to try and help him, I raise my hand to pat him on his back like you normaly do when you want someone to get on their feet again. The kid flinches like I'm about to beat the shit out of him. Previously I've heard them being beat and such, that this was normal in the slums. Drunk dads beating their children, but at that moment it really struck me how obscene such a thing could be. He was surprised at me not beating him, a kid that at the time was 5 years, me being 20.

Another time that left me awestruck was when I visited Macchu Pichu. After having dreamed about it, yearned for visiting it for so long, living in Norway and all, combined with my fascination for the Inca. It was just amazing to visit. The first long-time life goal I achieved. On this trip I saw the amazon, Chan Chan and many other great sites, but none like the Macchu Pichu.

Bathing in the hot water that streamed out of a Geysir in Iceland. It smelled of rotten eggs, but just standing in the splashdown was very very exciting.
